We were in Vegas recently for 5 days -

Highly recommend the Mob Museum tour, add in a couple of experiences in the museum too (speak easy to try their moonshine and we did a forensics experience), really enjoyable.

Night time viewing of the Bellagio fountain and Bellagio's has a botanical garden inside thats quite spectacular

Grand Canyon West (don't bother with the skywalk, que for hours to walk on a glass balcony) and Hoover dam (can cover both in a day comfortably)

Re-do wedding vows with Elvis

The Mob Museum Slogan was fantastic "There's two sides to every story, and then there's the truth!"

The Bellagio breakfast buffet has to be seen to be believed.

Another great excursion is to Zion National Park.  There are many  awesome natural areas within striking distance of Vegas.  That whole SW region is amazing.

When I was last there, Mandalay Bay had an amazing aquarium exhibit, including sawfish which are quite rare and difficult to see in the wild.

If you're in Vegas, it's a good idea to check out the stands selling discount concessions. You can get great deals.

Second the fountain. We went to Grand Canyon West, just because it's so much closer than the main site, and did the skywalk. The queue wasn't too long, and while you waited you could look at the scenery. The Skywalk itself was kinda cool. But!!! You can't take your own camera out onto the skywalk :( :( :( There's a few photographers out there who will take your picture (and sell it to you later of course), but I really wanted to take some photos of the canyon, not just of me.

It kinda ruined the whole experience for me that I couldn't take the photos I wanted, just so that they could try to milk the tourists of several more dollars.

My partner and I are heading over in October, so this is a timely thread.

Santa Monica for 5 nights, Vegas for 4 nights, Palm Springs 2 nights, Carlsbad (friends place) 2 nights, Hollywood 3 nights.

We are renting a car and driving, i was going to buy something and ship it back but the mortgage rejuggle has stopped that plan.

This?

Like Atlanta there are more than one Carlsbad. The caves were unreal. Deep and big.

Unfortunately no, we are visiting the California Carlsbad.

Those caves look epic!
