tweake: even the guntubers where complaining about that. so many untrained people where buying guns for self defense but not getting any training. thats how the problems start.

Someone on YT, possibly John Oliver, ran a video where they put Joe Sixpack with a gun through a police training exercise involving an active (simulated) shooter.  He ended up getting killed several times, and shot a lot of civilians, but never got the shooter.  My neighbour, ex-military, said they fired (from memory) something like 3,000 rounds a year in constant training.  Members of Meal Team Six OTOH, who shoot beer bottles off a fence a few times a month without any of the beer bottles shooting back, would last about 30 seconds against someone with actual training and experience.

Lias: I mean it's a bit late to start building the fortress after the zombie apocalypse begins.

That's why you move into a ready-made one:

Then you stand on the balcony with binoculars and watch the zombies eating each other on the valley floor below.

gzt: Often one of those things where locals and people familiar internalize the 'rules' and feel relatively safe day to day.

The problem is that this has serious repercussions for people's mental health, having to live in a siege mentality 24/7, thinking you could end up being killed every time someone comes up the driveway, is really not good for you.
