Shipping outside of Auckland isn't that cheap, over 8kg will be $50. Not sure if that's per item or per order. I thought it might be slightly cheaper as they have made a song and dance about main freight Depot collection points so figured they might have had agreements in place on key distribution routes around the country based on volume that they anticipate shifting.

u can get a lot of blahajs in 8kg though

🙂 Imagine, we have 3 ikea in 1 city (and the online store anyway). 😉

I'm still surprised my mum and dad in France have one 5 minutes drive from them and they live in a town with about 9,000 people only 😄

Then the catchment area of the surrounding region is correspondingly large. 😉

Also I noticed that many vendors of inferior metal furniture have been discounting their lines considerably. But looking at ikea, they are only doing the metal TV cabinets in white which is a shame. Guess I will have to pick something from the spraycan cages at bunnings to improve them.

Handsomedan:

So it appears their pricing is largely on-par with AU.

I've had my eye on a sofabed from Ikea for a while (Vimle 3 seat sofabed with chaise) and in AU it's $2199AUD and here in the same fabric it's $2399NZD, so if you factor in GST and currency difference, we're (for once) not being reamed.

Make sure you take a bit of time in store with their sofa beds.  Generally I think most ikea sofas are pretty poor to average but some are nice.

I was hoping they would have Prinsesstårta in the food section but alas. Utterly the best cake and I wonder if they still sell it in Europe.

I also notice that queen duvet covers here come with two pillowcases whereas last time I bought in Australia they had four to a set.

Nevertheless it’s great to see them here. Maybe an Aucklander can post the best way to get there from the city if you don’t have a car.  In other countries they have free shuttle busses.

Bla = blue, German = blau

Haj = jaw, German = Hai

So Europeans can really speak Indian. 😁

The east line goes from the city to Sylvia park.

Haj is Jaw in which language?

Haj is shark in Swedish. Blå = blue. If you want to write it without the å, you can use 2 a's instead. So you could write it as Blaahaj

Didn't find it when looking at the Swedish and Norwegian IKEAs. But I did find this cake at both stores. Not sure if they will have anything like it at IKEA in Auckland.

This is a nice little "recipe" from IKEA Sweden though: Princess cake in a glass (Google translated)

I see in the app they will be selling Swedish meatballs (frozen) at the store, but not shipping it anywhere, and also cake and some Swedish chocolates and candy.
