The original 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The little things make the biggest difference.
Kill Bill Vol 1 is mine. But there are some great movies already mentioned. Maybe should have been TOP 10 rather then singular best.
So hard to pick one, but if I had to I'd probably go Shawshank Redemption like others in this thread. Also other votes for The Green Mile and The Prestige.
I usually love anything with Tom Hanks, or from my childhood, Robin Williams. Bicentennial Man sticks out. I had never got around to watching it and finally did a few days after Robin Williams died, and just cried my eyes out at the ending.
Too hard to pick just one, as others have said, its mood dependent.
In no order, a few of my favs would be
Die Hard 1 and 2
The Green Mile
The Fifth Element
Back to the Future
An all time fav "The Goonies"
A hard watch, but a brilliant movie "American History X"

If you are a Robin Williams fan, make sure you watch The Fisher King (if you haven’t seen it already).

After several projects, the original version, which had been cut by 25%, was finally reconstructed (except for 8 minutes missing) in terms of content. In terms of content, because material from the highly flammable 35mm original, copied onto 16mm in Buenos Aires, was found, added and digitised.

The missing bits are described with text cards, so you don't miss any story. I need to watch it again some time.

Thanks, that's actually one I haven't seen.

I really should watch that again. Haven't seen it since probably my early teens (a LONG time ago), and I suspect I'd appreciate it a lot more now.
Hmm tough one. There are a lot of good movies on this thread.
My favs:
Gladiator
Armageddon
Call me old but
Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons,
Vertigo,
Jaws.

Missing footage was also found in a print held in the NZ Film Archive.
Star Wars the year it was released, at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London.
I was 10.
