It would be nice if some of these 'enthusiasts' however decided to obey road rules like the rest of us. Driving back from Napier to Wellington and 30+ motorcycles passing with no indication, on blind corners, when going over bridges... And they wonder why ACC levies will go up mostly for motorcycle owners!

Oh that is so, so true. I've seen motorcyclists (normally in groups) overtaking cars when an approaching car on the other side of the road is less than an second away. I can imagine it's bravado, but personally I call it stupidity.

Anyway, OP, I've studied statistics and I have to say that a sample size of 7 is not too high. Random things happen, that's just the way it is. Anyway, when the number of times you've been stopped reaches 15, send me a personal message and I'll work out the probability of you getting stopped as you have based just on randomness.

ya..and we all know statistics can be arranged to fit any argument...me i prefer personal experiences

perhaps one day you might find yourselfin similar situation

as for those "dangerous" bikers..well can i ask what bikes you ride?

besides..one cop who pulled me up is a bike rder himself..rides a ninja..thing is..he told me you dont know how stupid and dangerous car drivers are untill your riding..i guess you dont see bike riders txting while they are riding do you?

i guess YOU dont use your phone while your driving..right?

i see more dangerous manouvers by car drivers than motorcyclists.. road tollwill vouch for that..insurance companys also

example.my $25k harley yearly insurance premium is $560...my $8000 4x4 $820..our $6000 car $770

says a lot i reckon

Just thought I'd chime in, as the dicussion seems to have changed to 'Cars vs Bikes'.

I'm a car driver and a biker (well, of sorts.. can you call a 125cc vespa a bike?)

There are some really bad car drivers out there. They change lanes without indicating or looking, open car doors without checking and feel fine about trying to push riders around. (Or maybe just little scooters).

There are also so really bad bikers. They follow way too close, overtake in bad places, they speed and they 'filter' through fast moving traffic.

However I don't mind the bad bikers so much. The silly things they do and the risks they take will generaly only hurt themselves if it goes bad. On the other hand; if a car driver pulls into my lane, opens a door in front of me, or gives me a soft nugde, I fall off and end up being injured or being killed.

So yeah, bikers do silly things and probably end up killing themseves. But drivers do silly things too, and they will probably end up killing me.

uummm you need to check your facts..the greatest owners of harleys are european..i,m a member of HOG..we have almost 400 members. in auckland chapter .you can count on 1 hand the brown riders in the club..this is the same right through the chapters in nz..here in lays you wrong perception of harley riders.,,,so no mate...predominant riders of harleys by a long chalk are european..more over ther are more female riders of harleys than brown skin..hope that answers your comment

one other thing..the harley does not get the bad rap...its the association to gangs

Just because a person is white in NZ, does not automatically make them "European"

Just as looking asian doesn't make them "Asian" if their families have been here around 3-7 generations, how can they be European? They aren't. They are New Zealanders. Born and bred. You are using racial arguments again....when the fact is, Gangs drive Harleys, Gangs are involved in crimes.

Same with cars, Skylines, Evos, Subarus are driven by a minority of boyracers. yet the general population gets targeted for driving them

For the record European's face RACISM daily like any other culture, although there is a perception that European's can't feel racially biased and can't be insulted based on their race. Terms such as "white trash" are not funny little colloquial phrases that make all Europeans feel warm and fuzzy inside. In the way you've reacted every time someone has commented on the 'race card' you have in yourself been drawing racial sterotype's... it's not reverse-racism, it's cold hard racism and it's always going to cause issues in beautiful Aoteroa for every culture than inhabits this land.

I don't want to start on a fruitless discussion that will only get critiqued inaccurately so I will leave my comments at that. I will however finish by saying that I have read the entire thread several times and can understand the frustration that this whole thread is causing with more than a few people. Good luck with your search for answers.

my issue is being pulled over all the time and have expressed what i have just mentioned above.

so i appreciate your candour, however its you who has raised the race card issue..i,m talking harley riders etc

i already have the answers and that is to complain..after all..its the sqeaky wheel that gets the oil..dont you think?

You have not used the term yourself but you were the first on to hint at it. Whether you see that as important to your argument over being pulled over is your own decision. Other people however have chosen to expand on the issues that have been raised, namely your 'personal experiences and those of your mates'. What I was commenting on is the way you have stated several times "let me guess, your European" or something similar as a way to dismiss what that person has said. Thats not a relevant comeback, it's you yourself responding with the 'race card'. We know your issue was with being pulled over, this has been discussed throughout the thread. You have received answers to your questions and (for the most part) have received support in getting answers from up high.

This thread is starting to feel like fingernails on a chalkboard...
