This would come and handy.  I currently have an atom based server which is underpowered for serving up media, hosting websites, and email servers.

current setup is just a busted drobo connected to my mac mini htpc. been looking at a dedicated server for a while, just havent had the funds for one. so this would be really handy.

I just have a desktop and it's on it's last legs. I've made it survive for almost 6 years and I need something new!

Why do I need to win this though?

Cause I haven't had a chance to sharpen my hardware skills in years and I need a project. I want to set up a media server as my project, and this could do the trick.

Right off to twitter this comp as well.

Thanks for offering this guys!

What I have now is an aging HP Compaq CMT 530 that has to run everything.
With the HP Microserver I could reorganize my setup, trade in the 530 on a laptop and jump into the present. !!!!!

I've been thinking about upgrading my home server for a while. At the moment I use an old homebuilt PC running Ubuntu. I've taught myself enough Linux to be dangerous and have got Samba etc. running on it. It would be good to have something modern and expandable to cope with our ever-increasing amounts of digital media.

I'm currently running my desktop PC 24/7 as a make-shift server.. not very ideal as it's in my room and sounds like a jetplane when under mild load.  I also hang a tshirt over it so the blue LED doesn't keep me up all night!

If I got a home server I could tuck it away in a cupboard somewhere and use it to run a home domain, stream media, store backups and so on!

Currently using my desktop rig (in a trusty 8 year old case) as a file server for 2 HTPC's and a few laptops, would be nice to have a dedicated server to handle this!  got duct tape over the annoying blue LED and put up with the noise of numerous rattling fans in need of replacement

OK, I do have a couple of servers and 3 NAS drives (off site back ups)... but the servers are 8 and 6 years old so an upgrade for old one would be most timely!

I recently bought second hand parts so I could build a server to run a few VMs to assist with my CCNA studying.  Unfortunately the power-supply died, so I bought a new one, now the motherboard appears to be stuffed.

Just recently my desktop/primary machine (which has served me well for 3 years) is crashing at random (Again, looks like a motherboard issue)  and now I'm concentrating on getting out of debt I won't borrow money to buy a new one, and I have no cash.

So I'm screwed.

That's why I need this server. To further my carear.
