I have a Nespresso and an Aerocinno milk heater/Frother and it is amazing. I was a barista for 5 years and the coffee quality is amazing. Perfect everytime.

Coffee and it's associated paraphernalia is definitely a bit of a sink hole for money.  I've gone through about 7 machines and various grinders in the last ten years, and probably a few thousand dollars worth of coffee beans not counting power, milk servicing, cups cleaning etc etc.  I do however like the process behind it all, and the strive to get a better cup.  I do only drink one or maybe two cups a day, so nothing too drastic in terms of consumption.

But having said that, I've been enjoying low-tech brew methods such as Chemex, Swiss Gold and plunger coffees more lately.  Just waiting patiently for my Panama La Esmeralda Geisha beans from Coffee Supreme which should be here tomorrow :)

You folks should get these Bodum glasses... Keep coffee hot for longer thanks to the dual glass wall, and it's cool to look at:

I have those too, but only picture of the old ones. I still have about ten demitasse that I use anyway because of the saucers...

Just a note, Nespresso has opened a boutique in Auckland, where you can buy capsules, machines, try different blends, etc...

I've been to a few Nespresso stores around the world, quite fun actually.

Agree with that... best way to try new blends
(and I prefer the store experience to buying capsules on-line).

One of these would be great http://www.chiasso.co.nz/products/homemachines/vibiemme_domobar_junior134
or next model up. I have one of it's predecessors, about 10yrs old now and still going strong, still able to get parts / service.

Nespresso are currently giving $100 cash-back on Lattissima machines which is nice...
http://www.nespresso.com/promo/NZ_en/yep.html

Cash-back valid for purchases between 23rd Nov - 11th Jan from 'participating retailers'. I am assuming all major electronics retailers, as well as the boutique outlet as mentioned above.

Sancho: Thanks, I found this site here http://edencoffee.co.nz/?gclid=COKNo8Pz-KwCFWdLpgod608PTg  - their stuff looks pretty good but again I have not heard of ny of the brands and nothing to compare their prices too and most are over my budget....

i have been using the saeco via venetia from that page for the last 4 or 5 years and its been pretty good for a 'cheap' ($500) machine.

saeco via venezia

i've certainly found that the best way to ensure good coffee from it is to use freshly roasted beans - i used to get them delivered weekly, but am a bit lazy now and just buy cafe l'affare beans from supermarket.  Along with fresh roasted beans, a good burr grinder made a ton of difference.  these machines are supposed to be 'self tamping', but i get much better results when tamping first

you also need to get the rings and seals replaced - i.e. service the machine.  Anything plastic or rubber and subject to high pressure will need some TLC over time...  and pressure is somewhat important when it comes to coffees
