If the speedo gradually moves out 1KM each year then in the fifth you reach an additional 5KM you would then get fined.

So maintain your car. How is that any one elses problem??

Agreed, the only way your speedo could increase an additional 1Km each year is if your tyres magically expand.

Put the correct manufacturers tyre specs on the car. ?If you tyres start to wear, theoretically they'll over read your speed. ?same with almost all car manufacturers, apart from Holden. ?They all come over reading from factory, usually to the tune of 5km. ?So 95km/h @ 100km/h

@Codyc1515 - if you really don't have a licence, then get off the road. ?Before someone puts you off the road?

Oh no don't start him off on this!

I can see it now what happens if someone creeps down my drive way and puts in a few extra PSI into my tires or puts bigger tires and rims on my car!

Where can I purchase the mind reading device?

You can have a photo copy if it is stamped "Certified copy of original" and signed by a JP.
That is what I have in both mine and my wife's glove boxes for both of our licences.
And I remember my licence number anyway.

Hmmmm

Yes you are.

You are pulling this thread way off topic plus it seems you are arguing with everyone else just for the fun of it.

Either add something constructive, or this thread is being locked.

Was wondering if that was acceptable, Have you actually used it?

Also this thread brings to mind the question I have had for a while now of what does one use for identification if they do not Drive or intend to leave the country? Often non-photo identification is not accepted, Particularly in the case of purchasing alcohol.

OK, my simplistic view is that in reality a drivers license should not be required to be on hand. I was only trying to get that point across.

You need an R18 card (just of interest did you know only a NZ passport is legal proof to buy alcohol? foreign passports don't have to be accepted)

I can't locate the legal reference off-hand but a copy is definitely not acceptable. The law clearly states you must carry your drivers licence (and this is a prescribed item) and that you must produce it on demand. Remembering your number, holding a copy, or having it tattooed on your forehead (lol) just doesn't cut it.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Theres a difference between acceptable and legal.

As mentioned before - you need to carry your original licence as a legal document
A photocopy may be acceptable as it at least identifies you and gives the cop something to work with. However if you chose to carry no form of ID at all, they have the right to detain you to prove identity.

Smart devices are now being used by police that scan your licence to provide an immediate ID. If you dont have your licence, prepare for a longer wait.

I have never had to use it, but according to the police in comms at round the bays this morning, "it is up to the discression of the officer, however you should be fine."
