It's also really random. I order two things on the same day from the same seller in different transactions, one arrived within a couple of weeks one there's no sign of.

Gurezaemon:

The long delivery time I can (kinda) deal with. But the seemingly random nature of updates annoys me.
Is there any way to reliably get even cheap (not particularly fast, but faster than container) air freight from Ali or other such vendors?

Unfortunately most shops only offer low costs shipping such as AliExpress Standard Shipping or ePacket or YanWen and then they go up to Tier 1 FedEx/DHL which is really expensive NZD > $50 and in most cases the shipping is more than the goods itself. I have also heard stories about people paying for expedited shipping but the vendor shipped "Standard" anyway (perhaps by mistake I hope rather than something sinister).

This is all a bit of reputation damage for AliExpress. I could not find anywhere on the Ali web site to file a complaint against their misleading claim on shipping/delivery time.

ePacket is a type of budget courier I think, so should be significantly faster than their standard shipping.

Yes this happen to me, I filed a dispute and Ali refunded me the DHL price, then I left them a 1 star

There is another 'trick' too. Many sellers use DHL, but first send the item via a freight forwarder to another country where presumably DHL is cheaper. The result is delivery which should take three days takes a minimum of ten.

AliExpress really needs to enforce shipping option selection and ensure items are delivered to the chosen freight provider within the stated processing period.

Yes. Of the ten transactions that I have with AliExpress in the last 6 months, 1 or 2 was ePacket and they did arrive in about 3 - 4 weeks, about half the time of AliExpress Standard Shipping which takes about 2 months.

AliExpress is indeed the wild west of shipping. I know you pay more for Amazon shipping but at least you get certainty whereas at AliExpress, shipping is so random and the main reason why I will not buy anything of significant value on AliExpress.

Currently seeing faster shipping via eBay.

2 weeks to get to NZ via free shipping (and probably another week waiting for it to be delivered)

Whereas my Aliexpress purchases are bouncing between sorting centres and terminals

I tend to agree that Aliexpress is now the wild west of shipping.

Ordered x2 Baseus 1.5m USB-C cables on May 18. $5.49 delivered. Just arrived today (13 days later, e-packet). Surprisingly quick.

Supposed to be 20-40 days.

EPacket is basically an economy courier. An order I made 12th April with standard shipping arrived last week, so delivery time about 5 weeks. Oddly another order I made the same day with the same vendor arrived two or three weeks earlier.

ePacket is a Chinese subsidised tracked packet delivery service, that the sender is basically only charged for the final country/last leg of the delivery. It used to be significantly cheaper, but the price has increased and the cheapest option is often the "Aliexpress shipping" method (or the options where it's diverted through an intermediary country).

ePacket will be roughly the same as using a registered China Post delivery.

When I order from BangGood the item arrives pretty quick - in a couple of weeks or so, quite often within 2 weeks.  When I order from AliExpress the item arrives eventually, often 2 to 3 months after ordering.  I tend to order from AliExpress when I can't find the item anywhere else or when the price is really good and I'm OK waiting for up to 3 months to get what I ordered.

AliExpress shipping takes 13-20 days, according to the description.  But I ordered something on the 16th of April, tracking shows it left China on the 30th April - that's 2 weeks before it has even left China.  It hasn't arrived yet, so that's 31 days & counting since it left China, 45 days and counting since the order was put in.  This is for an item made in China that I can't find anywhere else, so I'm just gonna wait . . .

I have an item that's on the same plane (or slow boat?), I guess. Ordered 15/4, dispatched 21/4, "departed country of origin" 30/4.

FWIW, my "Track Order" page for the item says "Estimated delivery: Jul 02".

Of course, when I ordered it the estimated shipping time was 13-20 days, which is still shown on the "Order Detail" page

Your order should arrive within 13-20 Days, Factors such as delayed logistics and customs clearings may have an impact on the delivery time.
1. If your order does not arrive on 2021-07-03 , you can apply for a refund by opening a dispute.
Due to International Labour Day, many of our sellers will be on holiday from May 01-May 05 (PT). During that time, order processing time may be delayed about 5 days.

I guess we should be glad that our goods departed China the day before the big International Labour Day holiday.

Does anyone know how to cancel an order on Aliexpress? Ordered a couple of USB cables 2 weeks ago and just got notified "parcel delayed, expected delivery 9 September". On the one hand - good thing they notified me. On the other - over 3 months wait for a couple of USB cables is a bit excessive.
