We went to a New Zealand expat meet up in the desert last night. There was a family that had just arrived in Dubai who have a house about 500m from our NZ house and whose daughter went to the school my oldest daughter and wife went to when we were in NZ.

It’s so very very New Zealand.

How peaceful it is when you simply pay no attention to the whole idiotic US circus and the other autocRATS. πŸ™‚

No, no, the ostrich just doesn't make a fool of itself. 😁 Constant war reported right into the living room doesn't help anyone.

On a different note:

I am smiling because I am off to see the NZ All Whites play against New Caledonia for a place in the FIFA World Cup.

The winner of this game will be the first team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

I genuinely hope and believe it's New Zealand, as the loser must play several other teams in intercontinental playoffs and it's a hard, hard road.

A fellow countryman of mine actually swims through Cook Street at the wekkend just like that. πŸ˜‰ We are even from the same tribe of swivel roast barbecuers. 🀣

It must have been a cool game to be at and see NZ qualify.

It's time for 10 days or so off work. It couldn't have come at a better time although I'm not looking forward to waking up at 2am to head to the airport.

Yes, if you „scoundrels“ have nothing to complain about ... 😁 Cook Strait.

I'm very curious to see how you think and write in a foreign, non-Anglophile language.πŸ˜‰

High speed trains. They really are the nicest way to travel. It’s a shame New Zealand doesn’t have the population to sustain them.

My eldest son turned 20 over the weekend.

He's turned into a really great young human.

I just wish he'd clean his bloody room.

Wife and I are doing a UK/Ireland/Europe trip in June/July. Had an email overnight from one of our Ireland hotels saying they have to cancel our booking as they are fully booked for a conference. Then another email an hour later saying as they have just seen it’s our honeymoon they have reinstated and upgraded us. I put that it was a honeymoon in the booking details just in case anyone offered anything lol. No harm in trying.

Technically it kind of is a delayed honeymoon since you couldn’t travel overseas in 2021 when we got married and it’s our first big trip since then, and we didn't really have a proper honeymoon at the time. Slightly confusing few emails to wake up to on April 1st but logging into my account on their website shows the booking is still there. Searching those dates on the website does say nothing available so it must be true.

That's cool.

On the weekend, La Penguina and myself had a drink at a pub with our oldest lad (19) . Look, we made a grown up !
