I have just attempted to watch In the Lost Lands on Neon.

Apparently it's an action/Scifi/Fantasy flick, but I wasn't able to tell.

I lasted 20 min and gave up.
I generally like Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista, but this was just an awful watch.

I'm still not sure what was happening. I guess I never will. I'm not going to attempt to revisit this one.
1/10

Another aborted attempt today - Iron Sky: The Coming Race

I managed around 30 minutes of this drivel. At least I had an idea of what it was about and I knew it was going to at least a B-Grade movie.
I wasn't expecting it to be H-Grade. H for Horrendous.

From Wiki .... Wow....just wow....

"The plot follows a group of nuclear holocaust survivors living in an abandoned Nazi base on the far side of the Moon. Boarding a barely-functioning spacecraft, they travel to the nucleus of the hollow Earth in an attempt to recover the Holy Grail from a group of reptilian shape-shifters who are led by Tyrannosaurus-riding Adolf Hitler."

I happened to see Grimsby on TVNZ the other day. This is yet another Sacha Baron Cohen outrage. I have never laughed so much in my life. The elephant scene especially had me rolling around on the floor in hysterics. Recommended if you can cope with it.

So a historical drama then?

Well...it appears I have just learned what the whole plot is.
I got to the Moon Fuhrer turning up and admitting he was actually an alien from a far off galaxy...at which point we cut away to Dinosaurs roaming the earth.
I gave up then. I didn't get to the part where they leave the moon to go to earth.

JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH (2025) 6/10

"Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind."

I enjoyed the first film in this franchise, but the following two films were just studio cash grabs in my opinion. This latest offering has a very simple storyline and a good cast, but the emphasis is on the action scenes, which are often spectacular, though not perfect.

I certainly had some fun watching this, and action fans should find plenty here to enjoy, especially if you have a decent surround sound system.

So no Moon Nazis? Apparently dinosaurs and Moon Nazis go hand in hand these days.

There's never been a more natural pairing and frankly, I am surprised there haven't been more dinosaur/Moon Nazi epics!

I watched Fantastic Four: First Steps last night.

Not a massive fan. I understand what they were trying to do with it and the acting and CGI were all fine, but I just didn't like the "drop in and drop out" feel of it, with no real character building etc.
I also didn't like the pseudo 1950's feel to it. Whilst it may have been comic book accurate, it didn't make for a great spectacle, IMO.

The Conference 2022 -  7/10 (Eng Subtitles)

On January 20, 1942, leading representatives of the German Nazi regime met in a villa in Berlin-Wannsee for a meeting that went down in history as the Wannsee Conference, at which the systematic murder of 11 million Jews was decided.

Just as horrifying as you would expect. Well acted though. The stenographer is the character that really got to me, as she calmly and professionally recorded the planning and decision to murder 11 million fellow sentient Human Beings. With their racist Aryan thinking, they morally justified these Beings as sub human and commodities and went about planing their genocide. There is one scene where they discuss the purity classification - ¾ ½ ¼. Pure Aryan who has married a Jew and their off spring and their off spring etc.

PS: Here is a great BBC article - How an old suitcase revealed a hidden family fortune, lost under Nazi rule

House of Dynamite - Netflix

Quite a bit has been said about this movie hyping it up somewhat. It tells the same story from 3 perspectives with each providing a little more context about the story. This has been made out as somewhat new and revolutionary. And its not. I dont mind it at all as an approach to story telling and it can be quite interesting and clever.  For me by the 3rd one I was just growing a bit tired of it as it wasnt really adding much new.  There are some great cast in the movie and its well acted but overall just a bit average. 5/10 maybe 6/10. Felt like it could have been quite a bit more.
