I've been slowly re-activating some smart home elements (a few lights, switches and plugs) since I moved house a few months back. I use Tuya devices on the Local Tuya integration in Home Assistant, but whenever I've added devices I've never really understood about the different datapoint IDs and entities. I was adding a smart plug which also had temperature and humidity sensors, but I wasn't sure how to add them, and what values to set. After a little poking around inside the Tuya IoT platform I was able to query some details of the device (I should state at this point I am not a coder of any kind - unless you count rudimentary BASIC from the 1980s...). I found entries which I deduced were related to the temperature, and worked out that the value reported in the Tuya IoT platform matched the temperature value showing in the Tuya app, and that all I needed to do was set the scaling factor to 0.1 and it converted 226 to 22.6 (or 22.6 degrees celsius). I felt like a gosh-darn-it IT whizzkid - Neo hacking the Matrix, David Lightman hacking into Joshua/WOPR. I actually giggled with excitement as I set about adding all kinds of entities from this one device, while my partner looked over my shoulder and just chuckled at my child-like glee.
