Those who do not know what is truly important in life are pursued by foreign zeitgeists.

Mums house got burgled today which doesn’t make me smile. They took a MacBook and a iPad which she’s locked and done find my on.

What does make me smile is that I put in cameras last time I was home and the police actually seem interested in doing something about it.

They have called her back twice and are coming around to get the videos and do a scene inspection tonight.

That's about the best outcome you could have hoped for, along with her not being home when they decided to break in!

They seem to have a pretty good idea who it is between the video and the "Find My" last address. If nothing else they can make the prick very uncomfortable.

Mums property has been recovered and an arrest has been made. Happy days!

The individual concerned was well known to the police. They were well impressed with the quality of the footage from the Eufy cameras.

The rocket surgeon stole from someone less than 2km from where he lived. The local police really had no problems.

The touch screen on my 1st gen kindle paperwhite won’t swipe so I can’t open it. It’s 12 years old!

It’s a sad smile for an old friend that’s been around the world several times with me and read hundreds of books.

Kudos to Mark Mitchell and police management for pushing back on the previous lack of interest in this kind of crime.

I wouldn’t be quite so fast to draw political conclusions. As above the police attitude on the phone changed when they were told the address from find my. They knew the person concerned, if they didn’t I don’t think they would have been all that interested.

The dual boot workstation with the Intel Ultra 7-265K, which I assembled last week for a friend who works in layout and publishing and to whom I owed a favour, has been so successful that I now have three requests from other people on my desk, but I can't accept them because I am a freelancer and not a hardware distributor or manufacturer, nor do I want to be one. No one will pay me for the time and fun I spend on this. 😎

Unfortunately, the fun comes to an end after 1,500–2,000 km. For me, that's after 5–7 months.

I'm lucky if I get 500-600km out of a pair of trail shoes.  Luckily they are often on sale or clearance at Rebel which eases the wallet pain somewhat.

The lovely Mrs Code is tall and slim and until recent years she had beautiful red hair. Through all our 50 years together my affectionate nickname for her has been Ginge. I’m the only person permitted to use this.

However these days her hair is pure grey/white. My joking attempts to re-name her Grange have not been well received.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I usually change mine out between 700-800km and I buy them through the outlet stores at either Westgate or Dressmart to keep the costs down. I'm only just starting back into it after years of dealing with debilitating PF, but 5 weeks in I'm back up to a solid 30-35km/week. If I can get back to the volume that I was doing then a pair of shoes will only last 10-12 weeks.
