Anything that fun just has to be illegal.

Got the aircon running in my house. And there is condensation forming on the outside of the Windows. Which shows how hot and humid it is outside right now.

Well done. I've often thought the advice to avoid the automatic temperature mode to be bunkum. It's expensive but so nice.

Watching my 6-Year-old daughter ziplining down 220m in Rotorua. So confident she did it upside down and started with a blind trust fall backward.

God help me when she is a teenager! She is super strong willed, but at least I know she will take crap from no-one!

If you have more than 1 heatpump, leaving them on auto mode means that they might start fighting eachover. (1 heatpump running on heating, while another is running on cooling at the same time).

If your house has good solar gain, they might start running on cooling mode during winter. (when you could quickly cool the house just by opening some Windows instead if needed)

If the heatpump overshoots the setpoint on cooling mode, you don't want it to suddenly blast out lots of moisture. Due to it switching to heating mode while the indoor coils are still wet.

Definitely worth it to change the mode manually as needed.

thanks @Aredwood

Hadn't thought about competing heatpumps. However, if you've set the temperature sensor for each heatpump to somewhere sensible in their respective rooms, wouldn't they only 'fight' if one room was hotter/cooler than the other? Further, if set to economy mode, they'd have to be substantially different (I think at least 2-3C) before this 'fight' started, in which case, I do want them to fight e.g. if the temp in one room is too hot/cool and the other is fine. I've never seen this myself (I've 2 heatpumps in neighbouring rooms) but can see where you're coming from.

re overshooting, again if set to economy mode, if the target is 20C, then my understanding is that (at least with my Fujitsu) once it cools to 22C, it slows down significantly, and won't start heating until it falls below 18C. So overshooting seems unlikely.

Or mayhap I've interpreted the manual badly.

Walked into hardware store looking to spend $X on high-spec tool.

Discussed with dude manning the relevant aisle, decided better to go for middle of range tool for $0.7X.

Got home, used tool, worked as discussed with said dude.

The state of Christchurch during our visit. It's really quite beautiful compared to my last visit 12 months ago. There are so many lovely things now, and some wonderful free entertainment like Margaret Mahy Park (which is really something I am sure she would have been delighted by) and The new Library with it's super friendly volunteers.

Also, the thumbs up interaction I got with Phil Collins during his amazing concert! Was an absolute highlight.

My success  in my first attempt at cheesemaking, it's pretty damn tasty. (Brandy included for aesthetic effect....drink responsibly.)
