The nuns reminded me of a friends’s mother in a rest home who is like Lazarus. She’s been dying for the past 8 years. Has cancer, heart issues and yet, on and on she goes. She's being put  on a drip yet again today for a chest infection and we fully expect her to be sitting up in the morning demanding grapes. Have seen the scenario so many times before, they’ve given up mourning her possible demise.

We have a battery tester just like that branded Dick Smith. It works well on batteries. Never tried it as a unrinal though.

On the latest visit to the BP Petrol Station for the usual coffees, the lovely and friendly young lady that often makes our coffees told me the day was her last of working there.

She had achieved her Masters qualification in Civil Engineering and had obtained employment in that field.

Made me realise that there are a lot of high achievers, often where you may not expect to find them.

So true - and your post unusually affected me. It’s easy to wrongly pigeonhole and stereotype people.

That our LG C9 TV - that’s a 2019 model - is still supported with WebOS updates every month or two. Well done LG.

When I was applying for a job in grocery in 1979 I got to chatting with the interviewer and after the interview he said “Can you believe a linesman applied for this job?” and we both laughed

When I got the job we ended up renting a place before buying our first home. Our neighbour was the linesman, one of the nicest blokes I have ever met. Since then I have never demeaned anyone’s job, I felt so embarrassed pigeonholing him. That’s my shame.

Posting here because there are more [Smile] than [Annoy] on this story

Driving from Wellington to Paraparaumu last night to collect daughter from work. It was a stormy night.

[Annoy] Car temperature rising because of coolant leak, 15 KMs out of Paraparaumu
[Smile] Temperature rising alarm just before a large emergency bay
[Smile] Created AA callout using mobile app
[Smile] Ten minutes later lights show up behind me. Not AA but traffic management. Transmission Gully is automatically monitored and a truck stopped behind me with flashing lights
[Smile] Traffic management guy had water, we figured there was a leak and why
[Smile] @michaelmurfy collected my daugther and delivered her home
[Smile] AA tow offered to stop to collect my daugther, but she and Michael passed us as the car was being loaded.
[Annoy] Car had just been serviced. More money to dump on it now.

I have just spent the better part of several days transferring my entire life from the Windows 10 pc to the Windows 11 one. For various reasons I did not want a clone or cut and paste job. The transfer also involved some upgrades and, more importantly, some downgrades that slipped past my auto-upgrade barriers.

As always with these things, it turned into quite a job with a lot of unexpected obstacles along the way. There are still tweaks to be added but for the most part, it seems to be successfully completed. I am old and slow and easily distracted so this is a major achievement for me and my mouth has been curling up into an unfamiliar shape. I think it is called a smile.

Yeah, but honestly...if you're going to choose a profession, surely you go the whole hog and choose referee, rather than linesman?

This is a despicable disease and to have something like this announced is quite exceptional.

I hope some day we can find something similar to assist with MND.

Realising yesterday that I have visited every double-landlocked country in the world.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
