My boss has gotten us tickets for day 4 and day 5 of the NZ England cricket test at the Oval next year. Seeing NZ play in England has been a bucket list thing for me so we’re very excited to go, hopefully the tests last at least 4 days.

Days 4 and 5! That's really taking a chance, isn't it? In saying that, realistically there's also a chance that if it were allowed, test cricket tickets for weeks 4 and 5 could be a real thing!

Yeah day 4 and 5 are a bit dodgy (didn't even think day 5 was sold in advance), but will be awesome experience. As an England fan who grew up in NZ I ticked off a similar bucket list item on a UK/Europe trip earlier this year - managing to get day 1 tickets for the Lord's test against India.

Thats the risk but it’s also the weekend days. We’ve got a lot of travel planned for next year and Mrs Hadle will be taking unpaid leave. Given it’s England there’s a decent chance of rain.

I'm meditating right now and doing things that were long overdue for the network cabinet in a state of complete calm. 🙂

My little fluffy co-worker's 13th birthday today and he's both blissfully unaware that it's his birthday and busy ripping around the house in a post-breakfast frenzy, which will be followed by about 10 hours of sleep!

Happy Birthday, Eddie!

Now you just need to find someone who can do the 3D printing. 😉

I’d love that! I’ve often thought about it…

Been shooting archery seriously since April last year and have been rapidly improving since.  Every session results in improvement leaving me on a high.

I admire it when all your concentration and energy is focused on the goal. A friend of mine hunts like this in France; in Germany it's not allowed, otherwise ... 😉

I was running my NAS on HDD only. Really noisy thing, and some jobs were slow, including a consistency check taks on a Proxmox Backup Server VM (PBS).

Decided to install two m.2 NVME drives and enable Read Only cache volume on those. It somewhat helped but not completely.

But then I changed the cache from Read Only to Read/Write mode.

Noise levels plummeted instantly. Everything is faster, but most importantly the PBS consistency check job that would run for 120 minutes and make a lot of HDD noise now completes in under 20 minutes and is almost silent.

Keep an eye on how the TBW of the NVMes develops. I found that too unreliable, which is why I use TrueNAS on bare metal for critical stuff, where the ECC RAM/ZFS is the cache.

Every small detail counts.  Some more than others.  The sport is great for nerds like myself where I strive for improvement and enjoy ironing out the wrinkles that come my way.

I thought this would be easy, only a minute, I can do this. Blinked at about five seconds and lost focus. Sigh.

Training to become an English longbow archer took several years at that time, whereas training to become a crossbow archer took only a few weeks, as the energy in crossbows is stored and „only“ requires precise aiming.
