I'm most of the way through series one of Chickens. Hokey, predictable, but thoroughly funny in a sort of 'Allo 'Allo vein. Basically, the trials and tribulations of three hated shirkers who didn't join the army and go off to fight in the Great War, when everyone else in the village did.

7.5/10

We're really enjoying The Night Of, an eight-part HBO police procedural drama released back in Aug, about a young college student accused of raping and murdering a young woman. Sounds like fun indeed...

Excellent cast (recognise most of the actors, including Omar from The Wire in a key role; Cohen brothers regular John Tuturro...), well made, nicely shot, and totally gripping thus far (we"re half way through). Delivers a far less formulaic approach to the topic, and one learns a good amount along the way.

Daredevil.

Quite good - has even engaged SWMBO which is unusual for that sort of thing.

It's a bit slow and I do wish he'd hurry up and get the proper costume...

Rillington Place. Three-part drama series based on the true story of serial killer John Christie.

BBC iplayer

Launch trailer is here. Exceptional drama as only the Beeb can do, about a very well known address in Brit criminology.

Last show I watched was Quantico, an episode during the season 1. Watching still as I want to know how it ends but I skip over some boring parts...

Just finish season 2 of Dark Matter.

Despite lots of plot holes and dumb character decisions (and Wil Wheaton's AWFUL beard), it is quite enjoyable and addictive.

Not digging The Grand Tour, Tried to watch the latest episode last night and got halfway through and lost all interest.
I admit i was tired but just didnt have the flare i was looking for.
I couldn't say what they are doing wrong. Mabe its a little too staged?
All i know i that i lose interest fast. I havn't been rolling on my back laughing like we all used to when James would do something dumb and the rest would take the mickey...

The Grand Tour has terrible jokes and bad acting overall. I would give it 4/10.

I completely agree, it seems so contrived and has such obvious joke setups.

My wife and I gave up on Grand Tour after episode 2.  The first episode was okay, but it became clear by ep 2 that they had nothing new to contribute.  Everything seemed like a rehash of Top Gear, and not in a good way.  They just seemed to phone it in, which projected an arrogance that people would watch whatever they did, irrrespective of how rubbish it was, just because it was them doing it.  Jokes are forced and overused (especially in episode 2, with their Edge of Tomorrow take), and get tired very quickly.

It's a shame, because I really liked Top Gear, and the Chris Evans/Matt LeBlanc version was terrible.  Despite the circumstances, I wanted to like Grand Tour, but based on what I've seen I can find much better things to spend my precious viewing time on.

Agreed on the Grand Tour. I think it is that it is too staged.

I am really sick of the 'Which Celebrity do we fake kill this week' segment. What is the point of that?

The films are OK, the Tent scenes are rubbish.

Still better than the new Top Gear was, but only just.

2016 has actually been a pretty good year for quality TV in my opinion. Shows I've been enjoying recently:

Taskmaster - Greg Davies tormenting a bunch of comedians, what's not to love
Mars - a show by National Geographic, it's basically split between Sci-fi in the future (2033+) where people go to settle Mars and the present day where it acts as a documentary
Westworld - not much needs to be said, I don't think it had a bad episode
Preacher - took a while to get going but once it did, what a show
The Expanse - so good it made me read the books
Better Call Saul - I think I'm enjoying it more than Breaking Bad (which I loved)

Shows that I didn't enjoy:
Travellers - It was an interesting idea so I gave it a chance but the writing was terrible (and the FBI investigating anyone using encryption on the internet is just plain dumb).
Red Dwarf - I was such a huge fan of the show but they should just let it die

I think new Rick & Morty and Expanse episodes should hopefully be out in the next couple of months, I'm really looking forward to those. I'm also rewatching The Wire after a number of years, I'd forgotten how good it is.
