Apparently that phone is "water renitent", which according to the dictionary means resisting constraint or compulsion
I have never seen a phone with that feature before - a unique selling point perhaps? Although I am not sure who would be trying to apply compulsion to my phone, and why I would want the phone to resist it.
WTF? (on so many levels)
1) No - can't be true! I never heard this.
2) Stupid regulator should know you can now hedge with bitcoin futures contracts, and if all people had hedged on futures contracts for tulips - actually the world's first futures market - that would have worked out just fine.
3) Turkeys don't vote for Xmas - see #1
4) Oh - I can't guess.
floydbloke:
Q3 in this afternoon's Stuff quiz.
I got it wrong.
That's right up there with asking which car manufacturer makes the model "Swift" then listing 4 manufacturers other than Suzuki. Along with numerous other instances of proof reading or fact checking fails.
Well, they really really stuffed this one up. Having said that so did this guy..."AA driving school general manager Roger Venn said staff members "debated at length" about the question and then came to the conclusion they'd "got it wrong"."
Maybe they should have spent more time actually looking at the law rather than sitting in the tea room
So to set the record straight "Turning traffic gives way to straight through traffic" and if you don't know this stop driving!
Matthew
The "breaking news" on both stuff and nzherald are completely useless concepts.
For example: "Breaking News: Why it feels warm" (I've paraphrased that slightly, but that's the general gist of the headline)
Seriously? That's "Breaking News?" The only thing breaking here is my last hope that NZ news websites are in any way run by sane people....
On another forum, someone made a topic called "Breaking: [Some news headline]". Two weeks later they haven't bothered to hit Edit and remove the "Breaking".
@rjt123: When your ex breaks the rules they wouldn't bend for you
It's probably why they are now your 'ex' and not your current partner. So why would you care...?
FTA: "In the last month, two of my exes have had babies. One of these babies is a human child, born to an ex-lover and his new partner. The other is a tiny fur baby, adopted by my ex-husband and his wife. To be honest, I wasn't enthusiastic about either baby."
Oh, my... Just let go. Find a new partner. Or, even better, don't.

Headline on Stuff’s front page certainly implies Chelsea are to blame - "Auckland: We have a sugar baddie" but then you read the article and it’s all the Council’s fault and the only relevance to Chelsea is they're neighbours…
Stuff: What's healthier - fish 'n chips or sweet and sour pork?
Ok, the headline isn't that dumb; but the gist of the article is. "Fish 'n' Chips" wins, but only because they removed the chips. And the batter. And grilled the fish rather than frying it....
So, "what's healthier - Grilled Fish or sweet and sour pork?" Well, no surprise it's grilled fish, really...

I read the first article in that series and apparently there are more to come. I suspect it's going to turn into a "meat is bad, fruit contains too much sugar, avocados are bad for you, etc" rant....
Kiwi dollar surges as US Treasury Secretary hints at new currency war
No - you morons - Our dollar has not 'surged' at all - The US dollar has dropped.
Our dollar only surges if it increases against all currencies.
It only drops if it drops against all currencies.
The US dollar will have weakened against all currencies.
There is a difference!
