When social media works out positively.

https://www.si.com/soccer/who-is-tim-payne-how-new-zealand-defender-became-world-cup-folk-hero

NZ and Wellington Phoenix footballer Tim Payne went from 4k followers to 4.2M and counting in a few days after an online influencer looked for a World Cup player with "the lowest social media following".
He's now surpassed most of NZ's sports stars and media personalities, including the All Blacks and our most famous celebrities, such as Steven Adams and David Seymour.

He's also a seemingly humble and sensible man, so this is also happening to a decent human, who could end up with something good from it all - if he can monetize his newfound (and probably fleeting) fame.

I wonder why all the fire sprinklers at the apartment we stayed at in Brisbane over the weekend had stickers beside them? The one in the photo was actually up over 3m high on our bedroom wall.

I think it would even be a bit of a stretch for Steve Adams to reach.

Especially if they have just cooked their underwear in the in-room kettle and need to wear them the following day.

Oh no. I have just spent a week making tea in a hotel kettle. I could really have done without this thought.

"What exactly defines 6G is still being thrashed out, but it is expected to be ready by the end of the decade. According to telecoms supplier Ericsson, 6G networks are likely to offer data rates of several hundred gigabits per second with sub-millisecond end-to-end latency"

Thanks, Ericsson, I needed a good laugh!

Another photo from our recent Aussie holiday. You should have seen the looks on my wife and daughter's faces when their club sandwiches arrived.

Waitakere Hospital is like this too, they obviously book them in a way that they can guarrantee enough slots for emergencies/in patients. I took my mum to a CT scan on a Sunday, went down the road to the McDonalds for a coffee & Apple Pie, hadn't even got my order when I got the phonecall it was done. Was certain I'd enough time because I'd dropped her off 10-15 mins early, but nope.

Similar speediness for X-rays and CT scans going back at least a decade.

Hmm, I'm sure they're delicious—but with that massive hit of empty carbs and fats, they're a nutritional disaster. There's no getting around it, so I broke the habit of eating them a long time ago. But I'm not here to spoil the fun. Enjoy! πŸ™‚
