Yes, they enjoyed the meal once they had got over the original shock.

They don't count when you're on holiday.
That is true. However, some people are on vacation all year round (not referring to your family). 😉
Whenever I’m all alone—lonely and forsaken—and can’t fall asleep at night because I’m sitting terrified in front of my firewall,
I always listen to this sound and drift off like a little lamb. 😁
gzt: Looks like a far healthier version than you'd get in the states anyway.
The American one would probably come deep-fried.

This week I called into an organisation I left about 15 years ago, to go back into fishing.
It turns out they still use a basic application I built in MS Access. It performs an important but relatively simple business function. Still working!!
At the time we were quoted $75k to build something to do the same thing. IIRC it took me about a week to develop. I was just a dabbler. I wonder how much money the vendor that quoted would have made on that job.

Imagine modern devs using AI and vibe-coding that... It would be fifty times larger and 100 times buggier.

It is really nice to have equipped all our office PCs with 10 Gb/s fiber-optic LAN this weekend. Linux Mint didn’t even need a driver update. PnP 🙂

Air NZ's assisted onboarding and off boarding at the airport. Makes it so much less painful not only for me but also my wife.
A world that has gone totally insane.

Kimchi. Makes plain rice and noodles a lot less plain.

Cacio e Pepe
3 Ingredients 20 minutes, meal.
Our city was the first to ban the nighttime operation of robotic lawnmowers. Studies have shown that nocturnal animals—such as hedgehogs—are being seriously injured or killed. After all, it is hard to understand why these machines need to run at night; people don't play golf at night, either. 😁

Aside from the fact that I love kimchi and make it myself—if plain rice is a struggle for you, I’d try switching rice varieties (or adding a bit of rice vinegar). 😉
