Uniqlo potentially coming to NZ. Amazing news.

Fantastic news, but why potentially?

Answering my own question via The Herald

Global clothing powerhouse Uniqlo is tipped to be considering a launch into New Zealand.

While keeping details tightly under wraps, the Japanese-headquartered brand told the Herald it is “eager to connect further with the local community” and exploring “opportunities to expand our retail footprint” after completing its first New Zealand brand campaign.

Uniqlo – revered for its quality apparel and affordable staples – ran a major winter brand trip to Queenstown last month, with its Australia division flying in content creators for a high-altitude shoot of new products from their LifeWear range.

What will happen to the obviously fake "Uniqlo New Zealand" and "Uniqlo Auckland" and countless other pirate operations you can find online?

Below are just three of these operations:

How many people will lose their jobs selling fake products?

Probably only an Auckland store, so my better half will still have to travel to refill her wardrobe.

Since neighbors in the building (who were constantly ordering from Amazon) moved out, there is significantly more space for paper waste in the recycling container in the courtyard again. 😁

This mornings very happy smile thing.

Being able to preorder it. Means that its getting close.

Will there be a deal on a ps5 pro before launch? Who knows. I hope so but am doubtful.

Edit: just saw an error and fixed it. Oops.

Got a fairly expensive Nomad Titanium band for my Apple Watch Ultra recently.
It was a poor fit in the lugs where the strap attaches to the watch.
I made a claim via their online warranty claim form.
A day or so later I was advised I needed to post a small video showing the poor fit/loose lugs.
Today I received the replacement lugs along with a few attached links - almost 2/3 of a full watch band.

Fits well, looks good, easily adjusted and I am happy.

Excellent service after initial disappointment.
Well played Nomad customer service. Well played indeed.

I'm sure they'll do well if they come, but I can't get that excited. I used to live 10 minutes from a Uniqlo, and they're great for clothes that will last a season or so, but the material they're made of is often fairly thin. Very definitely not a premium brand. Maybe a notch above lower-end Warehouse or K-mart offerings, but that's about it.

I've had several pairs of cotton shorts and cargo pants where the color wears off where it regularly creases within a few weeks, and looks terrible a year later. T-shirts are see-through after a dozen washes.

Their more expensive offerings are slightly better, but the same can be said about any store. YMMV.

ANglEAUT:

Back online less than 24hrs after plumber cut fiber cable to the house. Thanks Chorus.

Out of interest, who is paying Chorus for that?  Do you know if the cable had a trace wire, and did the plumber attempt any tracing?

@richms I was very confused before you corrected this, and now I'm only moderately confused. What can you pre-order?

EDIT: I'm guessing GTA 6?

That would be correct. Much discussion around the place with many wanting to wait to be able to get a true physical release as they do not have a constant PSN account that they use and do not do digital purchases, which a code in a box is despite getting a box.

I was away at the time, so not sure about any tracing being done. The plumber on site was kind enough to leave his boss' business card. I notified him of the Chorus fault number. I've also given the boss' contact details to my ISP & the Chorus technician that repaired the fault. So far, I did not have to pay anything.

Had to do some research.
Thought Uniqlo was another crappy American RnB/Rap artist.

Most definitely not. Great quality fair value clothing.

More than half the clothes I have bought in the last few years has been from them.

Finding Bovril at Reduced to clear for $2.00 per jar (2 for $4). Less than half the price of Woolworths.

It's only slightly past the use-by date, but with the amount of salt in it, I'm not particularly worried.
