Look for snails hiding in top corners of the box. They move faster than you might think. I collected about 20 snails one night in the middle of the back lawn. Whether they were coming or going from the veg garden either way they'd covered a fair bit of ground since nightfall.

The three weirdest sounds one can have the joy of experiencing would have to be shagging hedgehogs, coughing sheep and the sound a snail makes on glass should it scrape its shell as it slowly crosses your bedroom window in the middle of the night.

Last evening (Wednesday 17th) there was an article on the TVNZ1 News about a neuro-divergent lady getting a job after a lot of difficulty. Excellent stuff. Her new employer is The Warehouse Group - good on them, there are a number of job types in the IT sector that are well suited to people on the Autism spectrum. Well done them.

But ... look what she was so happy to be working on:

That looks an awful lot like Windows XP to me!
😱😱😱

Well, it isn't :)

XP had a large green Start button. That picture appears to be Windows 7.

neb: More to the point, how do you deal with them? Blitzem around the base?

We've used snail bait around the base and inside the letterbox before, yes.

And throwing them away when you catch them - they don't run fast!

I suggested to a friend with a snail problem in his garden that he put bottle tops with beer in them at strategic locations in his garden and hope the snails crash into the gateposts or wrap themselves around the clothesline pole.

That's probably not that unusual. Often people with conditions like that are intimidated by change and prefer to stick with whatever they're comfortable with. Some years ago I was helping someone with a far more debilitating condition who was still using Windows 98 on something like a 14" CRT monitor. She politely declined any offers to move her to something a bit more capable or newer, which after a few further attempts I accepted even if it was painful to watch.

Snails love beer. I used to fill a bucket to a decent depth with home-made beer....and then set the bucket in a hole in the lawn that came to the brim. Snails from all around crawled on in there and drowned. Only issue then was what to do with them all.....

That Kremelta vegetable shortening contains no vegetable oil, or vegetable products of any kind, it's coconut oil and some soy lecithin emulsifier.

Should I complain to KremeltaCorp about their misleading advertising?

So, out of "animal, vegetable or mineral", which category are you placing coconuts in?

The same category I'd place it in out of "copper, silver, or gold", it's none of those. It's a fruit. And soybean is a legume.

Neither are vegetables. Or gold.
