SirHumphreyAppleby:

RedactedRetracted:

Had a bit of weirdness with a recent order, in that soon after I ordered the seller had deleted both the listing and their own store, despite recieving a tracking number (although there has been no updates at all).

I've had this happen a few times, but I've still received the orders. I've also had sellers under-price items, lie about goods being in poor condition asking me to cancel, provide fake tracking numbers and keep the listing online. I'm not sure what their game is, but I've had the "poor quality" lie at least twice.

I wondered this too, was told that its one price option is too cheap, but the other shipping locations or options have good margins. Its the same way that they exploit the sort by price by having the stupid cheap option on the russia warehouse that cant ship anywhere but russia, and a high shipping price on that going to russia. Sometimes they stuff up setting them up and list one option that will sell but is too cheap.

Ordered 2 lazy susans, 4 days later it was "closed due to account security".

Lost about $1.50 on what was charged and refunded on my credit card.

Will look elsewhere from now on.

I’ve ordered 64 items across 46 orders in the last 6 months. 3 orders didnt arrive but got full refunds, 1 order shipped wrong item but got full refund on that too, a couple items arrive slightly damaged or faulty but got partial refunds. I have another 2 in dispute right now.

I’ve used all the different reasonably priced options. in my experience who you use makes a difference but, which sorting centres and airports it goes through also plays a role. Eg i’ve ordered items from different sellers who ship from different warehouses on the same date using the same shipping option for them to arrive at vastly different times due to what looks like hold ups at different regional sorting centres/airports. Ive also ordered the exact same items from the same seller but at different times and had different delivery wait times, which probably means shipping volumes at any given time also impacts how long you wait. So there is a bit of luck of the draw. Having said that, the fastest delivery was with aliexpress standard shipping, 10 working days, ordered 11th of this month arrived 21st. This is my preference as this option seems to me to be the most reliable and overall fastest. epacket used to be good but now seems to be quite slow overall and a little unreliable but not as bad as china post who i try to avoid, never had a fast delivery with them. Cainiao also tend to be slow but not always. Singapore post ive only used a couple times but delivery times were reasonably good. This is just my experience anyway fwiw.

I ordered some Plastic 13mm Irrigation (Home watering) Taps from AliExpress. Shipped Fast via AliExpress Standard Shipping.

They took 3 days longer to get from Auckland to Christchurch than from Order to Clearing Customs in Auckland.

My CourierPost Driver had them here by 7am the next day that they arrived in Christchurch.

$5.98 each @ Bunnings or Mitre10 vs $21 for 20 of them including shipping and they look to be a better design...double hose barb, latches to stop tap bit popping out of the body.

Very impressed.

Yep, shipping speeds seem to be relatively normal at the moment, just in time for the big singles day sale 11/11, where everything grinds to a holt for a few weeks.

So I've got a problem... got a good-quality alu woodworking jig from a seller on Aliexpress, from a vendor with hundreds of sales and 96% positive feedback. What arrived was a cheap plastic version that other vendors are selling. They've said their supplier messed up and they'll re-send, and are asking me to cancel the dispute.

This is a really common Aliexpress scam, but in this case it seems to be a genuine mistake (based on comments by other buyers), and they're a large, legit store not some tiny outfit with three sales. If I don't cancel the dispute within a few days it'll get refunded and then I doubt they'll deal with me again, at which point the legit alu ones are pretty rare, expensive, and hard to find in the mass of cheap plastic ones disguised with varying degrees of skill as alu ones.

Any thoughts? I'm kinda inclined to leave the dispute open, or at least request a tracking number as a condition of closing the dispute. They can always provide a fake one which is another common scam, but the alternative is going through the hassle of trying to find another legit one, or paying something like USD 200+shipping for the US-made original.

I would leave the dispute open and get a refund. It's not going to cost them any more to send you a new order vs a replacement.

If you're worried they will not deal with you in the future, set up another account and have the item shipped to someone else.

What he said, way to risky to close the dispute. Get your refund and reorder from the same seller.

I've found sellers aren't usually to stuck up on it, and will send you the item you order, even if you've had disputes with them in the past.

For most of the last 12 months, ePacket and China registered were the most consistent way of sending to NZ.

I would usually pay extra to use them (over Aliexpress special)

But one thing to note is, many of the sellers will send the package using their cheapest options regardless (and pocket the rest)

Last week I ordered somethign using ePacket, and now got a tracking number prefixing with "SYAE" ... which is a new one for me.

Going to be interesting to see what carriers/path the package ends up going.
