Maybe this guy didn't get enough positive reinforcement at school or something, haha.
richms: Oh another one was a seller that had the the typical lazy seller thing of no freight, so I asked a question on what it would cost to get to auckland, and they said $9 which seemed reasonable.
Bid, won, paid, sent address.
4 days later got an email saying they took it to the post office and it was going to be $28 or something absurd. Turns out they never bothered to price it up and just guessed because other people have couriered them things the same size for $9.
Didnt go ahead with it and didnt leave any feedback but damn some people are lazy and thick.
UncleArk: Ahhh Trademe... Where to start!
I've had issues on pickup items where people don't bring the correct amount of money and expect you to just discount the item for this reason. In the last year or so I've had three people arrive at the door, where the price amount was rounded to a $10 amount and they've presented with the excuse that they went to the ATM which only dispenses $20 notes and they only got out a certain amount and are $10 short.
In many cases they often mumble and go back to their car and magicly produce the correct amount saying they've had to borrow from the parking meter money or from the spouse etc sitting in the car.
Also I've sold items and people present with a large note and want change. I can recall a book I sold for $3 and a bloke turned up with a $20 note expecting change.
The issue of people trying it on with for pickup items has basically led me to only list for posting, even locally, as this actually seems the lesser hassle of late!
richms: I dont get why people find the online calculator to be off, it works the same way as the one instore so unless you are taking the micky when measuring it then it should be the same. If they try to charge you more it might be because they are giving you the price for a more expensive service than what you quoted for.
Seems that you have to ask if that is the cheapest because they will give you prices for something not cheap or useless like with tracking etc.
