It's pork? and the white stuff is salt?

After all my talk of charcoal I went with a two burner gas number with a hood, basically I wanted something I could use during the week not just on weekends.

Very happy with it and can't wait to try out my food smoking kit.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

freitasm: The top fat is going to sip and flavour the meat, carrying that salt goodness, making each piece melt in your mouth...

Ok, I'm hungry now...

It's beef... Rump cap (or in Portuguese picanha). And yes, it's rock salt.

More here.

freitasm: Since it's not a great day for an outdoor BBQ, this is going in the oven, covered with tinfoil for 30 minutes then 20 minutes without:

Wow, now that is what I want to cook and eat.

Where do you recommend buying it? I take it supermarkets are a waste of time?

I would consider Supermarkets to be a waste of time for any fresh fruit or produce or fresh meat. I prefer the likes of Nosh and if you buy what's on special there is a relatively minor cost difference. On the other side of the coin, I recently bought some fish out of desperation at my local new world and it was surprisingly fresh

Rock salt so it is not all going inside the meat.

You have to order at butcher shops as supermarkets don't have custom cuts...

Done. All gone. Yummy. Not salty at all, just tasty.

Accompanied with a nice potato salad (mayonnaise and italian parsley) and beer.

Monday dinner of champions!

Remembered seeing this topic a while back, the warehouse has the weber one touch silvers for $200, parallel imported.
I got one and can't wait to try it out.

Just tried a new method for Xmas BBQ.

After a trial with a chicken that worked a treat, we bought a turkey and put it on our relatively new rotisserie (with electric motor) and left it for 90 minutes and it was pouring juices when we cut through the lovely crispy skin. Absolutely stunning

Turkey size had to be managed to fit inside the BBQ!

;-P

Nice ...
Its a parallel import so it won't come with the 10year Weber Warantee.

The warehouse is not an Authorised Weber New Zealand Stockist

But at that price what a good deal. These things are good and will last a very long time if looked after properly.
