To look at the iPhone Vs Android Vs Other options debate in another angle:

Best advice... ignore all advice and just go in to one of the mobile retailers that have the smartphones powered up on display so people can have a play with them. Or convince a friend to let you fondle their precious smartphone for a while.

(If going to one of those retailers Wash your hands afterward think: lots of people touching them, flu season is still running)

Car Analogy: There's no substitute for a proper test drive. If you are buying blind without actually getting to see the product on display then you have to trust the information you get from:

1: Opinion of Fanboys.
2: Marketting spin.
3: Salesperson in store.

Which as we all know are such honest sources of information who only have your best interests at heart and do not have an axe to grind nor money to make ... right?

Honestly just buy whatever phone is the best flagship model from each manufacturer. You can't go wrong. HTC One X, Galaxy S3, iPhone 5, whatever. They are all actually damn good, you'll have a ton of fun, they are far more power than you'll ever be able to use the full potential of.

Debating the pros and cons of each are splitting hairs: you're buying a gadget on the very apex of what is technologically possible to mass produce. These are flagship phones so the they tend to be the best they can be. You'll hardly be unhappy.

Hair splitting of pros and cons are for fanboys to debate in forums... that's a different kind of fun :)
