My uncle said Android is better than an iPhone? Which one should I buy.

I just want the best one.

Should I get iPhone 5 at the end of the week, or wait til iPhone 5S next year?

PLZ HLP!!!

On the basis that it might be serious...

What do you use your phone for today?
What do you want to do with the new phone?
Do you use Gmail and other Google apps a lot?
Do you use a Mac and other Apple products a lot?
How much money do you want to spend?

Beaten by freitasm on 2 counts...

Hits a sore spot given that we've _just_ sorted out a new supply deal and I'm getting this exact question from a number of users. Bah!

Generally, people who can't be bothered doing their own research just get told to get an iPhone as it's probably more their speed. :P

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I'd say Tony is pretty clued up, so it's his monthly trolling allowance gone...

I get asked so often it's not funny anymore.

My stock responses to questions:

Q: I want a smartphone, what should I buy?
A: iPhone. End of story.

Q: I want to buy an Android phone, what should I buy?
A: Galaxy S2 or S3 depending on your budget. End of story.

Q: Should I buy Android or iPhone?
A: iPhone. End of story.

Q: You have the new Samsung. Whats that like. Why should I get iPhone instead of what you have.
A: If you have to ask, get an iPhone. End of story.

  • Basically, if you know what Android is, and would like one instead of iPhone, get the best one you can afford. The more money you spend now, the better the potential lifespan of that phone before you want to upgrade.
  • If you don't know for sure you want Android, and have a decent budget. Buy an iPhone.
  • If your budget is low, then hit up forums like this, or review sites, and make sure you handle the phone you want.
  • If you are technologically illiterate, go with iPhone. All my tech-dumb friends keep ****ing up their Android home screens and call from a landline to say "I cant find the icon for calling or texting". If I install a replacement launcher and lock their homescreens, I 'own' their problems, and am to blame for *everything*.

The variation between cheap Androids is HUGE.

You NEED to understand:

Android version
Storage size
CPU speed and number of cores
Manufacturer
Camera megapixels
Screen size
Size and weight of phone (there *is* such a thing as too small)
... probably a few more uber important things.

NOTE: Never root/jailbreak or apply custom ROM to a non-geeks handset. Again - you will own every single problem they have ;-)

A shoutout to my WP7/Blackberry homeboys and homegirls.

You are not forgotten, however your handsets are very much like the '9' button on my microwave - utterly neglected, and largely pointless.

(Ignore this post until the 1st October - it seems my trolling allowance has hit its cap!)
