I forsee a lot of average quality branded headphones going through this service.

An official NZ shipping proxy might put the fire under some local outfits to improve their prices hopefully. I'm fed up getting gouged for audio gear.

freitasm: It's ok to buy a laptop from Ascent and have it shipped by NZ Post CourierPost, but try going to a NZ Post branch to send a laptop to anyone via the same NZ Post CourierPost service and see if you can get past the agent...

I have done this several dozen times. The trick is to not answer their questions directly when they ask you what is in the parcel.

We are looking at resolving the lithium ion battery issue. Indeed, it does preclude people from purchasing some pretty sought after items. We are confident of resolving this and we will get back to you as soon as we have a solution.

They've updated it:
Some electronic items containing lithium-ion batteries can be sent through YouShop. A lithium-ion battery must not exceed 20 Wh/cell, or 100 Wh per battery/pack. Stand alone batteries can not be sent.

Unless... unless ink cartridges really ARE made of plutonium-doped unicorn tears, and it's the plutonium they're worried about?

But then... we can load plutonium onto a million tons of explosive and throw it at Mars, so maybe that's not it at all.

Are you calling me?

Seriously though, a few years back bombs were found inside laser cartridges - the electronics for detonation were easily disguised inside the cartridge's own, and the fact that the exploding material had a similar appearance as toner in the X Ray didn't seem to help...

Pretty impressive turning it around that quickly. Too much potential to lose business if they didn't I guess.

Well I have signed up for YouShop. Painless to sign up.
Have added my new address to my Amazon account, attempted to preorder a new kindle, and the order has gone through successfully to the final "place order" screen. Yay!
