Off to QOTSA and NIN in Christchurch tomorrow night.

Got tickets to Anathema in Melbourne in August. Mate is trying to get press passes to interview the band. Cannot wait.

Last night I attended John Farnham and Lionel Ritchie. AMAZING. I have seen JF twice before, and LR once.

JF never fails to fire, he is a truly excellent performer with a near perfect voice even after all these years, has great rapport with the audience and there wasn't a person who could stand, not standing during his last 4 songs. Particular high points were the guy playing harmonica, probably the best I've seen, and the bagpipes who appeared out of nowhere during "you're the voice". That's Freedom and Touch of Paradise were just WOW. I know a number of people around us were there for LR, and a few didn't even want to be there for JF but as we were leaving, we were hearing rave reviews from them.

LR. What a legend! Polished like a Diamond his voice has lost very little of it's power or beauty. He also is an amazing showman, and the timing of his singing with his band was perfect. The guy doing Horns, Harmonica, and Keyboard was simply amazing, what an incredibly talent musician!! Dancing on the Ceiling was EPIC. LR seemed to have endless energy and it didn't seem to be having any effect on his outstanding voice. He did a great 3 song piece which had the Audience in the palm of his hand. He is very funny.

I'd pay and attend either artist again in a heartbeat!

Billy Connelley. He is looking old, but still is incredibly funny. He has a wandering story telling style, often taking tangents a few levels deep, but it's impressive to see him bring them all together.

I saw him do an extended bit on Uncontrollable Oily Discharge on a previous visit, and I honestly truly thought I was going to have organ failure and die I was laughing so hard. He touched on it a little at the end of this show, but didn't get into it properly.

Tragedy the man has Parkinsons.

Vector was PACKED. Wasn't a spare seat to be seen.

Florence and The Machine: First concert. Amazing. WHen she sings live, it sounds just like the recorded version of the song.

Beyonce: The Mrs Carter World Tour: Out. Of. This. World. It was like a show more than anything. So much dancing, videos, over the top everything. I was in heaven the whole time, I could have died. It was insane. Will definitely see her next time she comes

Went to see James Blunt last night. First up was his supporting act Busby Marou who were FANTASTIC. That is perhaps the second time I've ever enjoyed an opening act in all the concerts I have been to, and I was pretty blown away. Even went and met the band after and bought a CD. The second vocalist/strings player was simply amazing, he has some agile fingers, very talented.

JB started, I thought, not that well. His voice seemed to have not warmed up and it took him 3-4 songs before he looked comfortable. From that point onward though, he was great, he has a unique voice and his crowd interactions were pretty good, he is a funny guy. He didn't play the one song I really wanted, called Bones, but played most of the other stuff on his latest album Moon Landings (very very good I highly recommend a listen or three). He played a lot of the bigger hits, which the crowd seemed to like. He finished strongly.

There was a song he asked for no-one to clap for, I hadn't heard it before, does anyone know what it's called? (obviously someone else who attended might know).

Surprisingly good show. Cool venue, band were a blast from my past. Early Winters opened, who I didn't know but they were quite good too.

I'd seen them with NIN the month before and this was more of the same. Luckily, I like them. Great poster for the show by Emek. Unfortunately, I was too busy sightseeing and missed this at the show and the subsequent sale on his website. Fortunately a kind fan sold it to me at cost price so it only cost me extra postage. All round great result! :)

Got my Eagles tickets in the pre-sale last Tuesday. Couldn't afford the trip from Wellington when they last came 20 years ago so me & the mrs are pretty chuffed that they're coming this way now that we're a bit more flush with cash. The last band/performer on my must-see list who are still alive. (Although I've taken a real liking to The Killers in the last 18 months or so, hopefully will see them back in NZ one of these days or maybe get a chance to see them on an away trip.)

Saw Roxette tonight. Was pretty disappointed. I have read after the show she had a brain tumour removed, but the state she was in, at the concert, whilst brave, simply wasn't touring ready. The end of the show was better, but to be honest, I think I would have preferred to have kept the memory of then on the radio over my new memories.

Biggest line-up: Knebworth 1990 - Pink Floyd, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, Tears for Fears, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ray Cooper, Robert Plant (with guest Jimmy Page), Status Quo and Phil Collins with Genesis.

I think I was at that one. The timing is about right, and I remember Genesis, but not so sure about the other acts. If it is the same Knebworth, it packed up at a bit after 11pm, and it took us more than four hours to get out of the park.

Saw The Wall at Earls Court but the sound was dire. Saw Peter Gabriel at the same venue but he set up in the middle (Floyd were at one end) and the sound was excellent. Seen Gabriel at least three times and he is probably my favourite live act.

Have seen Elton John a couple of times. Great live voice, but he got the hump at one of the gigs because the audience were complaining about a big camera blocking the view, so he went off after 90 minutes, and didn't come back. No explanation. No encore. Just a tizzy fit and no more Elton.

Saw Paul McCartney at Southend-on-Sea would you believe. Queued all night for tickets, then in the morning the queue kept getting joined by people who had the places kept for them, but it was bollocks because it was never that long the night before. Also seen at Southend Family with Chapman off his head; Gentle Giant and Lindisfarne (Fog on the Tyne) at a little hall with the sound so loud our ears were ringing for hours after it finished. The Stranglers — that was a rocking concert!

Supertramp and Fleetwood Mack at Wembly Arena (not at the same time). A couple of gigs at the Stadium, but buggered if I can remember who was on. I remember the cans of piss being thrown at people blocking the view by sitting on boy friends shoulders. That was not nice! I think it must have been Genesis. Definitely not Live Aid coz I saw that on the TV.

Blimey. So many gigs but my memory is shot. :-( Ahhh Baker Gurvitz Army with Paul and Adrian Gurvitz. Still some of my favourite music today. Might have been Hamersmith Odeon. Also saw Ian Dury but that might have been Gants Hill Odeon. Bless his poor departed heart.

There will be loads more, but they are not coming to me right now. :-(

Only ever been to one concert. Icehouse at the Chch Town Hall in 84 or 86.
Not really an Icehouse fan, but got dragged along to make up a foursome. Mate's girlfriend wouldn't go without her best friend.

First concert was Thompson Twins, Western Springs 1985.

Agree. Was not what I expected. She really lacked stage presence.
