Would use this (if i were to win) to replace the DSE Freeview decoder in the bedroom for when the wife is sick.
Lounge already has MySky + HTPC + XBOX, so if this was in place, she'd be able to watch stuff from the media server.

This would replace the good ol normal inbuilt tuner in the tv and a computer that has an incredibly long cable that arduously runs around the wall to the tv!

Neat box of tricks. I think these guys might be local in Porirua or Tawa. I remember reading about a local company a while ago in the local paper, developing a system like this..... Looks like they nailed it.

To replace the dodgy chinese clone Dreambox DM500-S (+series 1 TiVo) which doesn't change channels half the time and pixelates the other half the time.
It would also replace the Xbox-XBMC which can't handle HD, and the PC-TV HDMI cable which the kids swing on.

OK...for me this would replace the DishTV S7070R as pictured below in my lounge setup. It's an unreliable box as far as plugging and sort of USB device into it goes to allow time-shifting or program recording - frequently not doing either and giving out a green picture on a semi regular basis. Works great without any sort of USB device atached. The S7070R would, in turn, be replacing the cheap $69 Sommet freeview box hooked up to my HP Touchsmart IQ816 in the bedroom, also pictured below, which runs media center (on Windows 7) so recording/time shift is no problem there. The Sommet box itself frequently forgets the channels and has to be re-tuned. Frustrating.

Need to tidy up those cables...

Great functionality, would replace my aging and dying DSE receiver (which cost about as much as there do, back in the day). Would also give me somewhere to record once analog goes in a couple of months. Also., Android opens up all sorts of possibilities.

Just moved to a new place with no aerial on the roof. There is however a satellite dish so this android device seems like the perfect solution to my digital channel-lessness...

This device has an abundance of features that are of interest. It turns a TV into a smart TV for one. It would be cool to have a play with one of these.

I currently have one of these, which has worked fine for the last couple of years, and was pretty cheap. Remote control died not long ago though, but you can still change the channels manually:

Thanks for the opportunity. This would replace an aging Zinwell ZMX-7500, which is coupled up to an equally old Pioneer DVD/HDD Recorder with built-in Analogue tuner. The Analogue transmission was switched off today in my area. I use the Pioneer to record from the Zinwell through an input.

The Zinwell is a pain to set recording times (records out through composite to the Pioneer) as a glitch in it's software does not adjust to daylight savings & twice a year, I have to do it manually. Once that is done, you have to change the start times as that is effected as well. Then there is twice for daylight savings.... sigh...
Have recorded a lot of 'blue screen'.....Grrrr

The Smart1 would be the ideal thing to replace both of my above units in that it will do the recording out to an external HDD cradle with eSata connection (wondered when I was ever gong to have the chance to use eSata).
Likeed the review concerning the music player, that's dead cool. Chuck in Android & it's a winner for me.

Lotto was not at all friendly to me this Sat (Na...wasn't me who won the 33 Million...LOL). Better odds on this eh....

Good luck to all entries.
Peace....

This would replace a "no-name" Satellite freeview receiver that I "accidentally" bought on a TradeMe a few years ago after getting a bit click happy with the "Place Bid" button :P

It is slow... the TV Guide is crap... and the "english" UI is a bit poor at best and completely unintelligible at worst!
