Tks for the correction.  We have it for race one tomorrow and they have it for race two?

Keep the faith - there won't be a race 2...

Thanks for the comic relief! I am trying to keep the faith too, but it's pretty frightening. Oracle have had a LOT of luck in this regatta.

I am concerned that we made up 2 massive leads yesterday but couldn't make up anything this time.

Had port advantage, lost start, lost race. I believe that tomorrow Oracle has port advantage, so with it being win start win race, odds have to be in their favour. 8-1 to this, hard to believe

We still have Port advantage for the next race.

Cool, I was told that we had it for todays races and if we want to have it again we need to postponement card tomorrow which is Oracles turn.

No, Oracle have port advantage in race one tomorrow, we have it in race two.

Crap. Because if they win race one tomorrow, we're into legal action territory, I believe.

I think legal action was inevitable. It was made pretty clear they disagreed with the outcome.

Yeah, but it it less inevitable if we have a clear "first to 9" victory over them?

According to Chris Dixon on TVNZ this morning it most likely won't happen  or if it does it won't be until after TNZ gets to 9.  He said Allison hasn't really got a leg to stand on over legal action.  Hope he's correct..

We need to beat them in race one tomorrow to avoid that, because even if they dispute it, it would not have changed the outcome.

Also if they appeal and win, they could get a 1 match ban instead, still not changing the outcome. Also the risk with an appeal is that the committee/jury, could INCREASE the penalty.

The last big wig that sued over Americas cup punishment for cheating was thrown out from the US supreme court.

It wouldnt be a committee, it wont be a protest, it would be legal action through the US courts

Still won't matter if we beat them in race 1 tomorrow.

I believe that the reason either team can't lodge an appeal during the regatta was to prevent some court debacle from "bringing the AC into disrepute". (make that "further" disrepute, as the penalty imposed on OR wasn't for "cheating" - but for doing exactly that - bringing the AC into disrepute)
But winning an appeal - overturning a jury decision - I'd have thought that brought the AC into disrepute anyway - by proving that they (the carefully appointed international jury) really didn't know what they're doing.
To bring something in to "disrepute", implies that the  event had a good reputation in the first place, so I suppose an assumption might need to be made, and a bit of history conveniently forgotten.

BlueShift:
KiwiNZ: losing on the water will save TNZ tens of millions in legal costs. Larry Ellison will never let go of the cup.

Plus if Oracle win, the next race will still be the snazzy AC75s, if TNZ win, they get to set the rules, and may well go back to monohulls, or something else.

Winning it s like getting a poison chalice. But I would have thought after the last Am cup in auckland, that the infrastructure would already be in place. But if not, perhas give it to Wellington to host. It would be a smaller  event, and perhaps they could race it in cheaper smaller boats. KZ7 in the 80's was a tiny boat compared to these new ones. Don't know why everything needs to be larger and faster with these rich guys. Why not smaller cats, which means more countries can compete in it.

No chance it would be in Wellington. Sailing/Wind is more consistent in Auckland from what I understand.
