huckster: I live on the front and I mow the berm. Takes 5 minutes with a person-powered mower. What's the big deal?

Admittedly, I haven't done it for a few weeks - it's full of holes dug by Chorus at the moment......

:-)

Exactly why it should be the councils responsibility.

That makes no sense to me.....

I can't mow it because there are holes and such due to UFB installation. They'll be gone in a week or so and then I will get the weed-wacker out and tidy up.

So now you have to have a weedwhacker and a lawn mower because the council decides to let someone dig up council land. Your position makes no sense to me.

Are you under any obligation to keep it as grass?

Fine, but you shouldn't be obliged. It's not your land and you have no control over it.

That was the view of a lawyer on National Radio last week. His opinion was that the Council couldn't force you to mow but you could not expect the Council to mow to your schedule either. So if you wanted tidy you'd have to DIY.

I guess that like me he has a mower and line trimmer to maintain the rest of the section of which there is no debate over who's responsibility it is
