My point i introduced birds are not a gift from nature. They are something imposed by humans
As to your counter example .... trout have dramatically (some would say devastatingly) impacted native fish populations and freshwater habitats in this country.
Although legally protected (and an important recreational/tourism resource) they are as destructive in the freshwater environment as ferrets and stoats are on land.
Also introduced would be
sheep
cows
rye grass
Wheat
Barley
Hops
Grapes
Horses
kiwifruit
etc etc.
Man can - and should - alter the world to suit his needs instead of attempting to preserve it in aspic. Imagine what a great tourism resource bears would be here...!![]()
