You can still pay by direct credit to these companies though can't you? Some like mightyape uses ASB banks online eftpos as an option too, where it connects directly to the bank, rather than using a third party system. I am guessing that is safer, as I am guessing that is supported by the bank?

With AirNZ and Jetstar it's POLI or credit card (with surcharge) payments only.

Or use OneSmart with Air NZ and you pay no credit card fees.

Trust me. Your bank is not happy with anyone using POLi. It is hard to stop as POLi scrape internet banking sites.

Might be worth qualifying that: Anybody at your bank who knows anything about security and\or has a modicum of common sense is not happy you're using POLi.  I imagine there are many clueless managers\marketing folk\etc who might think it looks like a great idea... hence the big companies who appear to endorse its use... but it's still not a good idea!

i was shocked when MightyApe recently started using POLI.  I wrote on their facebook post, replied to their twitter that it was a terrible idea, but it fell on deaf ears.

they lost a lot of points on that one.  so stupid.
