Not To Say by The Holy Toledos

They were a Christchurch band in the early 90s during my university undergrad days. The core members were also in an Irish folk band called The Finnegans, and there were a few songs shared by both bands including this one.

Wow that brought back memories. My uni mates went to high school with and were good friends with the Holy Toledos so we would go see them perform around Chch and go to parties together. My mates also had a band called The Sneetches. But alas I moved back to Hamilton and lost contact with them all.

Slight correction, my varsity mates didn’t go to high school with the Holy Toledos, but were friends with them since high school. I think the two schools had something to do with each other.

I never knew anyone in, or close to, the bands. Just enjoyed the music, and keep songs on my phone playlist from both CDs the Holy Toledos made. I've also got one of the two(?) CDs by the Finnegans.

Possibly sounds best taken with herbal tea and a slice of lemon.

Dope Lemon (Angus from Angus and Julia Stone).

Geektastic:

This is very hard to answer as there are so many I could pick!

I'm going to go with 'So What' from the album Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.

There are many other songs I could pick but that is one of the very few I can listen to endlessly and not tire of it.

Agreed, I think this is the single best piece of improvised music ever recorded, with a the dream group of musicians.

However for best album, Sonny Rollins Quartet, Tenor Madness

...

The theme song from Duck Tales is pretty much near the top of my list though.

I didn't have TV growing up (still don't) but seeing Duck Tales was a highlight when I did watch something (primarily for the intro), transcendently happy and evoking the feeling of anything being possible. I get a similar buzz from Sugar's "Feeling Better"

It used to be the Beatles, then Vivaldi, then Puccini (La Boheme) but now I am in love with a

beautiful lady from Manila who just happened to sing two Disney princesses (Jasmine, Mulan)

and starred in Miss Saigon and Les Miserables, most listened to track is:

For anyone saying Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet - this is from a DVD called On the Night from the On Every Street tour. The videos get taken down on YouTube, but this the audio from the companion CD. This is my favourite version.

Or something from Pearl Jam, Tool, Nine Inch Nails or Rage Against the Machine...

Of course... Duck Tales is pretty cool too.

Beatles or Stones?

Stones every time for me.

Sympathy for the Devil, Wild Horses, You Can't Always Get... spring to mind as a few egs of the many songs that would make up my favourites of all time.

Impossible for me to pick a single song or artist.
