The oldest working box is in Dorset and has been in use for 169 years now.  Given the way letter-writing has fallen away across the globe, I'd think there will be relatively few brand new British Post Boxes going up with the King's cypher on them.  If anything, they'll become something of a novelty because they're likely to be rare.

Yes, apologies for my previous answer based on some random Quora post. British monarchs have considered themselves imperial since 15th cent. India may just have influenced the style of a crown made for Victoria.

Charles III has revealed his cypher and it has the other crown above CIIIR

Did you  mean the Angevin Empire in 1154 under Henry II who was the son of Empress Matilda.  House Angevin is also known as House Plantagenet.

Yes also sad at this news. Particularly so because, whilst ailing, she still seemed okay a few days ago. I had a brief direct encounter with her during a "walk-about" at the Wellington Town Hall during her 1976 (or was it 1977?) tour of NZ. Gracious, but smaller than I expected.

“And what do you do?”

Is that what she said to Liz Truss ?

I think generally people admire and respect those that still live and work in their nineties regardless of their position in life. When one ponders about the end being nigh it’s good to have someone public who has reached such a milestone as a reminder of what can be achieved.

Why are there always a few cerebrally challenged that decide that places of solemnity and mourning are an appropriate venue to make a screaming political protest or who imagine their personal view of the monarchy or climate is so important that the world should be informed immediately.

@eracode You weren't wrong.

Having said that ten days ago, I haven’t changed my view regarding the day-to-day coverage - but here I am watching the whole funeral live on BBC and enjoying every second of it. A truly amazing historical spectacle.

Was watching it with my neighbours. He got slapped once for talking during the minute's silence, a second time for pointing at things with his walking stick while she was trying to watch the procession :-).

Anyone know who the military unit with the black bonnets was that was occasionally shown in the shots? It looked like a flattened version of the Balmoral bonnet.

Are you meaning the Royal Company of Archers?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
