So where do you think Costco should look at next?

They can put one anywhere they want as long as it says Aldi over the entrance.

That wound also kill the duopoly at one hit.

Do you mean ‘that wound would kill the duopoly’ …? 😁

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

As another has quoted and I inferred, the duopoly isnt affected. BUT.... is NZ in a unique position re the duopoly, that Costco could attack that?

I drove by around 8pm last night. There was a huge queue down the footpath to get in. Easily 300 people queuing 30 min before scheduled closing time.

@richms was there much of interest in the electronics section?

Bugger that. I'd wait till the novelty was over, one off specials go back to normal then assess. Use it wisely

I hope they had the cafe open too. Did they have any phones?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

A few good deals. Such as 1KG of Massimo's mozzarella for $19, whereas at Paknsave just up the road it's $6.69 for 125grams for the same thing.

Then some not so specials, Dyson V15 vacuum was at RRP of $1499. Noel Leemings have it for $1300+ currently.

Yep, food court was open. Don't think there is any coffee there. Arrived at 7pm, waited in line for an hour?! Walked around and before you know it it was just before 10pm. Then they shut the food court so I missed out on the hot dogs. Was not a happy camper! Didn't even have time to look at many electronics but I see from posters above they're selling iphones.

I'm seeing a lot of sudden one-off sale events that I'm sure are absolutely not related to Costco opening weekend at all.

I'm planning to go in this weekend for a look, but given the traffic woes I think I'll take the bus and walk from the nearest stop.

TV's, handful of phones, one bundled home theater and speakers that I didn't look at. Whole lot of bluetooth chaff to appease the masses. I did buy some razer wireless earbuds but will be returning them as they don't fit me.

Didn't look like any big TVs had gone, as the pallets were still all full. Seemed the smaller ones that could go in the trolly were going ok. Recall there were LGs and some other brand that had android on them. Was right by the door so looking too much would block the queue of the people after the cheap chickens.

Will they take them back?! I wasn't aware that stores will take returns on earbuds due to fit issues.

Apparantly they will take anything back which is why I was game to try them as I want something true wireless for when I am out so I dont have the cable to snag on things and the price was low enough to take a punt. Worst fit ever of anything I have tried - worse than airpods. Guess I will stick with my shures with the aliexpress bluetooth cable, but its always snagging on things and yanking, plus the aliexpress bluetooth is the typical hissy clickky rubbish.

The other brand would be TCL.
