Bluntj:

I always thought DAB was satellite driven? If so wouldnt that be a plus for NZ?

DAB is designed for VHF band 3 (old analog TV space). 174 to 230 MHz.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

While I feel for the folks that are losing their livelihoods I don't agree with the calls for the government to bail out the operation. Warner Bros Discovery has assets of circa $US120billion and net assets circa $US40billion, its annual revenue is circa $US40billion. We have far more pressing issues to spend tax payer money on such as our ailing heath, education and infrastructure for starters.

Is it just me or is the amount of new coverage and headline grabbing articles this is generating is over the top and disproportionate to the reality?

When the local meat works lays off 200 people it barley a foot note or a 2min piece.

Yes, its sad when people loose their jobs, but better to be made redundant in Auckland than in Mataura or Huntley.

News media are very adept at reporting on and interviewing themselves.

no doubt part of the reason they are getting the axe. Too much self indulgent reporting on stuff no one cares about.

And a rodent in a supermarket.

Maybe our rodents need to be bigger?

Or more numerous. Thousands spilling out the exit would surely attract overseas attention?

This. We can't just let governments give money away to private companies just because they want money.

Unless, of course, it's a libertarian government. Oh, wait a minute.

This made me chuckle, from RNZ. What a loss!

Indeed. "Privitise the profits, socialise the losses" has been happening far too much in recent years.

Headline in Stuff.

"Tova O'Brien: I don't want to imagine New Zealand without Newshub"

New Zealand was here and OK before Newshub and it will be here after Newshub. Good lord

There's obviously a lot of overaction. But in reality, how many people watch the 6PM news?

There are many players out there - The Platform, ZB, etc. Sure they might not be a TV station but they offer enough for me to not tune into TV news.

The Platform

I would say a lot more people watch the news at 6 on either channel as opposed to listening to something like The Platform.
