My husband received his approval today.  I was absolutely stunned.  He applied in January this year.  Unless spouses of NZ Citizens are getting priority, I don't know what is going on.  Unless they have some really fast workers????!!!!

We'd applied for my son earlier to be upgraded to a citizen by grant, but have yet to hear anything about him.

Just saw that - this particular government is a disaster - covid will be its swansong. 2+ years yet delays. Bureaucrats rather Commissars are ruling the country now.

There is an fyi.co.nz - some very stupid reasoning in the response.

https://fyi.org.nz/request/19066/response/72975/attach/html/4/Mohamed%20Zakaria%20OIA%20response%202122%200690.pdf.html

it says delays will be sorted out in coming months - the intention is very clear to keep people hostage.

Also it seems they might be planning to get those hideous ceremonies back to add on to the pain.

Handsomedan:

Wife and I applied online in August 2021.

No correspondence of any sort until today: Citizenship has been granted.

We must've been an easy case to manage. Been here since 1972 (wife) and 1974 (me).

Congratulations! Indeed 1972 onwards means easy to process.

Apparently 1972 does not necessarily mean anything, my partner has been here that long and is still waiting for a response since applying online on 26.05.22!

Some applications for people I know got approved, they were submitted in August and October 2021 while other submitted in May and June 2021 havent receive any communication yet. Anyone knows how the queuing system is working now  , or its just a random selection ?

We received our physical certificates yesterday.

Not bad: from start to finish, it was 9 months almost to the day.

when did you apply?

Not heard anything about June and July applications yet.

Its a shame that this kind of service is being provided by a govt department. Hardly surprised.

Hi everyone, hope you all are doing good.
Does anyone knows what’s happening with paper applications? Me (family application)applied on 4th Aug 2021 and no communication whatsoever till date. But my friend applied online 16th Aug 2021 and he got approved on 15 May 2022 and his Certificate print date is due on 27 May 2022.

Does anyone knows what’s happening with paper applications? ....

Following this thread pretty much since it was started, I've concluded that you've got more chance of winning first prize in lotto than of correctly predicting when a particular application will be processed and certified.  It's nice to see that some are going through a bit more quickly now but that just makes it all the more frustrating for those who applied earlier.

There appears be to no logical queueing or sequencing at DIA for this work. With paper applications I can kind of understand that some offices may have a heavier load than others but that sort of reasoning goes out the window when it comes to on-line.

Unlike some other sentiments expressed here, I don't believe this is some sort of conspiracy, corruption or discrimination though.  I just put it down to dysfuncton and mismanagement within a large government agency.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Hi All,

We finally got our passports and here is our timeline:

  • Applied paper based in Christchurch on 31st March 2021
  • Received documents back 6 weeks later
  • Received confirmation email 24th Feb 2022
  • Received email from ceremonies team on 29th April stating print date is 10th May - No approval email or letter arrived
  • Applied for passport on 10th May - Here's an interesting nugget:

    • Was called next day by Passport office telling us they don't have our certificate so they will cancel the application and we should re-apply. We suspect printing is automated and if you apply the same day and certificate is not printed yet then they don't have your record to issue passport but couldn't say for sure.
    • Received another call the day after telling us passports are ready to pick up which we did
  • Have not received our certificates as of today probably in the post somewhere.

So it's finally done for us and we're have mixed feeling going through this process. Wish you all good luck and hope the process eases up soon. I was following this thread since the beginning and feels like we've lived this through together so far.
