Hi All,

Here is my timeline:

-Applied: 22nd Feb 2021 after being in NZ over 6 years

-Received Confirmation details on 24th Feb 2022

-Approved on 27th Feb 2022

-Certificated Printed on 18th May 22

-Certificated received on 23rd May 22

-Apply for passport on 19th May 2022... Waiting...

Extremely shameful if it takes 3 months to print a certificate and another month for passport. I got my passport in 2 days in a normal process some years back.

It's quite clear that these delays have been ordered by THE TOP of this government's leadership - a control freak resides there and nothing else. FYI.ORG.NZ is not getting the answers from DIA. All they do is bark about Covid. If NZ Industry now estimates half a million citizens are packing up for primarily UK, Europe, Gulf Arab countries and OZ - it is the failure of the govt for not puncturing the real estate bubble or controlling wholesale prices - not the immigrant. Yet it is the immigrant that is punished.

Empirical evidence. Look at FYI and you get it why all answers from DIA are a pile of BS. Its already mid 2022 - which they claimed should see cut down in delays - the website still shows April 2021 as unallocated indicating additional delays. They have accepted it in May month FYI that there will be additional delay.

The minister for internal affairs does not respond to some of the fyis and claims in one of the fyis - she is not responsible for this department - then who is?

I'm a non believer in any theory but sorry the evidence points to something fishy.

In 2019 - the application officer at the desk had explained me that the auto approval (provided all main requirements are met) happens as soon as the data enters into the system - the case officer just confirms if it is all ok (credit and criminal checks) and send it up for approval.

I got mine done in 1 month (application to passport)- 3 weeks for ceremony and 2 days for passport. Can't understand why it takes 1 year now for a case officer to pick up the file with all tall claims of additional recruitment, new system and new streamlined processes.

No questions asked on how much taxpayer money$$ was wasted on that new system and additional recruitment.

If there isn't a memo explicitly saying this policy then we can't assume it is. Empirical evidence doesn't cut it and doesn't prove your claim "these delays have been ordered by THE TOP of this government's leadership"

Well criminals do not write their crimes on paper sheets. The current cabal/junta wont do it.

Immigration New Zealand is part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment so I am not sure why Internal Affairs is being named in your reply.

Citizenship fiasco is not run by the commissars in MBIE but Department of Internal Affairs and Jan Tinetti who is the God there .. claims she does not run it.

Well looks like its not happening , I see increase in the total process timeframe !! I guess online applications are being processed faster from what I read here

25 March 2022 - Request for more info received - provided same day

They wanted a colour scan/photo of my birth certificate?? Pretty sure I submitted my birth certificate with my original application, surely my application would have bounced without it. Either way, the original is in monochrome. Took another pic of it on a red background. You want colour? You got it.
They wanted English Evidence. This made me giggle. I sent them a scan of my School C and UE qualifications (including passing in English) as issued by the NZ Department of Education in 1982 and Universities Entrance Board in 1983 respectively.
26 March 2022 - (a Saturday!?) Request to confirm personal details received - replied same day
12 April 2022 (today) - Approval email received (with boilerplate text around no ceremony, certificate within 2 months etc.)

Received my certificate on 26 May 2022, print date was 23 May. I didn't get a notification about the print date, it just turned up.

Applied for NZ passport this morning, just in time to have to pay the increased price. It went up on 25 May, it's now $199 for standard delivery. They have addressed the delay issues they were having.......by stating the standard time frame is now 1 month.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Press release today:

The Productivity Commission today released its final findings and recommendations from its inquiry into New Zealand’s long-term immigration settings.

“Immigration policy has profound effects on families, communities, businesses and those who aspire to call Aotearoa home. Yet immigration policy appears to be decided in a black box, shielded from the public scrutiny and robust policy assessments required of most other public policies,” says Commission Chair, Dr Ganesh Nana.

“The Commission found that migrants bring diversity and much-needed skills to workplaces across the country,” says Dr Nana. “They play an important role in creating job opportunities for New Zealanders, and in contributing to New Zealand’s economic development.”

“Improving the country’s languishing productivity is a long game. This is often at odds with how successive governments have run the immigration system: reactive to short-term pressures and sometimes conflicting priorities.”

The Commission recommends a number of changes to promote a longer-term system focus, and to improve the quality and transparency of immigration policy.

A key recommendation from this inquiry is to issue an Immigration Government Policy Statement (GPS). The GPS would require governments to set a clear strategic direction for immigration policy. Governments would also be required to specify how the demand for temporary and permanent visas would be managed to reflect the country’s capacity to settle more people and how it would invest, if necessary, to expand that capacity.

“A GPS would have improved the transparency around the Government's recent immigration rebalance announcement, by including how policy changes would affect the expected number and composition of migrants and the planning range for residence visas," says Dr Nana. “It would have explained how its objectives in immigration related to its other objectives for education and training, and investments in infrastructure overall.”

“Much of the Government’s immigration rebalance announcement so far has focused on the temporary visa system. Immigration policy should be clearer about the likelihood prospective migrants can achieve residency under the points system (the Skilled Migrant Category). The points system needs to be more effectively linked to the residency planning range.”

The Productivity Commission’s report makes 24 recommendations to Government. The final report is available at www.productivity.govt.nz/inquiries/immigration-settings/

My partner is still waiting for her application from 26 May 2021 to be processed. She has emailed them twice last month and just got the usual timeframe BS from them in reply. She has been here for the full 50 years with only the odd trip overseas for less than a month. Excellent credit and no criminal convictions; she is a British citizen with automatic residency privileges.

She has not even been advised they are starting to process the application.

At this stage she is going to get her resident visa transferred to her new British passport.

After more than two year working on the new system they finally came up with this :

"The introduction of automated checks has already significantly reduced average processing times" , if you look at their own numbers, they totally contradict with those claims. The processing time has not been improved at all. If your wife application is not being processed yet means allocation to CO is taking around 13 month ( while it says up to 11 in their website).
