Moon: Excellent.

Avoided this movie when it came out based on publicity which made it look like a Solaris clone - it is not. Also - it is not an action movie - expect lots of nothing-much-happening which is later essential in explaining events.

Truly classic golden age science fiction with links to Clarke, Asimov, and Phillip K Dick.

Trivia: The director/script writer is also the son of David Bowie. Somehow this seems appropriate.

Well on Saturday I watched with 3 of my 4 sons (6.5yrs, 4.5 yrs & 2.5 yrs old).

Tangled
Which was pretty good they certainly liked it as did I. The only fault I gave it was too many songs hehe. I really thought the horse Maximus reminded me of Donkey from Shrek when he transformed into a Steed. 4 outta 5. Also I thought it was very well animated (as in well detailed).

Yogi Bear
Which was not too terrible lets put it this way the kids liked it a lot.

Later on in the day (after me boys had gone home) I watched James Cameron's caving movie Sanctum (based on a true story) which I'd give a good 4 outta 5. Probably one to avoid if your claustrophobic.

Inside Job - 9.5/10
It's actually a documentary about the financial crisis and the people behind it. A bit theatrical at times, but highly informative. Recommend it to anyone who hasn't been living in a cave for the past 5 years.

"Takers" - a modern version (cheap rip off) of the Italian Job, right down to the vehicle through the road. Thats 2 hours of my life I won't get back.

"Gullivers Travels" - Son enjoyed it but I thought it got a bit silly at the end. Light hearted fun for Jack Black fans.

"S.W.A.T Firefight" - Nothing special 4/10

"Faster" - Predictable but enjoyable for the Rock fans 6/10

"The Mechanic" - I like Jason Stratham so its a cool 7/10 for me. Good action and reasonable story.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

"The Mechanic" - I like Jason Stratham so its a cool 7/10 for me. Good action and reasonable story.

It's a remake of the Charles Bronson vehicle of the early 70s so I'll wait until it gets to TV since I already know the ending. The original was quite ground-breaking and well scripted, so hopefuly the remake will offer some additional wrinkles over the original.

Agree on your summary. The editing was also very slick - make a talking heads dominated flick into something pretty darn interesting.

And I have developed a hatred for that guy Sean who started Napster, which means Timberlake is a better actor than I would have given him credit for... :D

I watched Catfish the other night, very nice film - and done really well for just a couple of amateur film makers - 8/10

It took me a while to 'see' Justin Timberlake in that movie. Sean Parker was really well played by him.

Another good doco on the same sort of line is Gasland. You can get a little bit depressed watching those two back to back.

My last lot of movies were.....

Shutter Island. A great idea for a story but some wooden acting and a plot I cant help thinking Ive seen somewhere before led me to think they couldve done a little better. Certainly worth the watch, but was waaaaay to long and pretty slow at parts. Wife went to bed which says it all but I stuck it out. 7/10 for effort.

Gran Torino. I love Clint and love how his roles seem to be aging with him. Thought it was a great movie and would definitely recommend it. 8/10

Harry Brown. Stalled on seeing this as Id just seen Gran Torino and expected it to be the same, but other than the basic plot I couldnt have been more wrong. An absolutely superb movie which I could watch over and over. This had everything Gran Torino didnt.

GT was all sugar-coated with baddies you knew you could talk round if you invited them in for a cup of tea, whereas HB had heroin addicted filth who would cut your legs off no sooner than look at you whilst ripping your eyeballs out with a spoon all for a fiver.

Absolutely 10/10, the first half hour had the wife hiding behind a cushion.

Harry Brown is excellent, far superior to Gran Torino IMO but best to treat them as separate entities as in reality they are hugely different stories.

Watched True Grit (2010 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1403865/combined) last night at the Lighthouse Petone. Good movie, Bridges does a good drunk guy, but would give about 8/10...
