KiwiNZ: losing on the water will save TNZ tens of millions in legal costs. Larry Ellison will never let go of the cup.

Plus if Oracle win, the next race will still be the snazzy AC75s, if TNZ win, they get to set the rules, and may well go back to monohulls, or something else.

Winning it s like getting a poison chalice. But I would have thought after the last Am cup in auckland, that the infrastructure would already be in place. But if not, perhas give it to Wellington to host. It would be a smaller  event, and perhaps they could race it in cheaper smaller boats. KZ7 in the 80's was a tiny boat compared to these new ones. Don't know why everything needs to be larger and faster with these rich guys. Why not smaller cats, which means more countries can compete in it.

No chance it would be in Wellington. Sailing/Wind is more consistent in Auckland from what I understand.

Talk of it going around the country, cannot see that logistics wise, can only be AKL

Wasn't that talk just of the actual cup itself? Not the regatta

I thought it was the next regatta, pretty sure it was, one of the politicians. Could be wrong, but taking the cup around is hardly newsworthy as that would happen anyway

I think there was an article stating the cup will visit more towns this time around (media already assumed we had won it).

Haven't seen anything about racing in different place.  Agree though, that is hardly feasible.

OMG

This mornings race showed me two things. ETNZ is a slightly faster boat. Today it made ground on most legs despite being in the less favourable air and current. Thats happened repeatedly. If it was in front early hard to see it not gradually and steadily sailing away.

BUT, the sailors on Oracle are better, simple as that. They win every start despite port advantage or not. Or we lose the start, I am not knowlegable enough to know if Spithill is winning the start or Barker losing it. Either way its frustrating that we have the boat, just, but we lack Oracles start skills.

Wow I am feeling really annoyed with ETNZ right now, it's the most unbelievable lead and if the penalties hadn't been handed out at the start, Oracle would have just won the AC.

To top it off, TVNZ website is back to being completely rubbish.

I'm over it.

Bahahaha losers. Win the start, first to the top mark. Still lose. This choke will never be topped. Ever.

<YAWN!>

Can we please drop this boring habit of labelling our sportsmen as chokers? Oracle have found some extra speed in their boat, and they are now sailing it very well. Lets give credit where credit is due, rather than resort to the predictable catch cry of "Chokers!".

Read back to my rant.. seems what I said is now shared by the commentators mentioning it a few times now too :)

They have grown to the better team with more smarts and coffers. That is all (hello non-stored power electronic adjustable foils)
