Listen was fantastic! Proper spooky at parts. I like that there was literally nothing there.
Always happy to see little snippets of Gallifrey and nods to the old Timelords.

I didn't like the Dalek episode much - an opportunity wasted IMO. All that back-story and history with the Doctor and The Daleks gave Moffatt so much potential for some great dialogue but it didn't happen.

Can't say I overly enjoyed Robots of Sherwood much. The ending was really, really naff.

My very metal Doctor Who theme

Listen was good, the rest have been a let down IMO.  Was excited about new doctor, but so far I havent really liked him.  Tennant and Smith are my favourites.

Ditto.  I was skeptical of Capaldi from the announcement (though I'm a huge fan of Tucker in The Thick of It), but as the teasers and trailers came out, I started to have hope that he would produce an epic Doctor.  To be honest though, he hasn't really delivered.  I think the problem for me is that there is very little of recent previous Doctors in his portrayal - his personality doesn't really connect with the last two Matt Smith episodes, which had him being hopeful for the future.  While I know regeneration can be erratic and personalities can change dramatically, it seems like they've almost completely ignored everything that the Eleventh Doctor discovered and achieved (though admittedly it is early days yet), and the lack of connection to his past means that Capaldi feels less like The Doctor, and more like any other erratic time-travelling character.

I think he has the potential to be great. Tennant is my favourite, but I never really warmed up to Smith.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

The real problem is the writing, just too much non-nonsensical stuff going on. The arrow at the end of Robot of Sherwood... WHAT? The giant T-Rex that was completely unnecessary to the plot of Deep Breath? The list goes on...

"Listen" has been the best episode of the season so far, but two things annoyed me:

1. Why did Clara feel the need to lie to the Doctor about having no connection to Rupert or Orson?
2. I thought it was impossible to return to Gallifrey since it was timelocked, they explained this away somehow in Day Of The Doctor, but then they did it in this episode with no explanation whatsoever.

It's like they are throwing in ideas that they think will make it interesting but aren't even worried if it makes sense or not.

Matt Smith's run had a fair amount of this going on, but I don't remember Tennant's run being nearly as bad.

1. Perhaps she felt the new doctor would get mad at her and she was afraid?

2. Remember, Clara is "The Impossible Girl".

Oh, there wasn't literally nothing there. There's a screencap on reddit of the exact second it shows, but there was definitely something that does not look human under the blanket. It's very blurry (intentionally) but it doesn't look like a normal human shape. Was it another child? The question is explicitly asked, and the answer is 'maybe'. But it wasn't 'yes'.

We know for sure what The Doctor experienced, but it is left very ambiguous as to the rest.

Hopefully they never answer the question. Having an answer, no matter what it is, would ruin it.

Maybe, but remember: Gallifrey is currently locked away in a pocket universe.

Edit: MF is right, she's the impossible girl, and she was there in *her* timeline.

I'll give you 1. because it just comes down to character decisions, but I won't budge on 2. if that is the answer it is just lazy writing and more of what I am talking about.

If you want to see some fantastic Doctor Who, re-watch the two part "Human Nature" and "The Family Of Blood" from Tennant's second year.

I don't think it's lazy at all. It fits very well with Clara's relationship with The Doctor. The whole point of Clara is that she splinters into a million pieces and appears all along The Doctor's timeline to nudge him in the right direction to become The Doctor. We have already seen her as far back as The Doctor stealing the TARDIS in the first place. It makes perfect sense she would have influenced him even further back than that. After all, he had to be not just a Time Lord but a Time Lord with a very specific outlook on life. The Time Lords as a whole just want to maintain the status quo in the universe. Interfering is against everything they believe in.

What I'd have written if I could read/write English good (Zoolander reference here).

But that story line about Clara influencing his past ended before The Day Of The Doctor, so I disagree with you there.

Let me clarify. I agree that she may well have influenced him that far back, but it would not have been from where she currently is in her own timeline.

I have no idea if that makes sense.
