DarthKermit:
The one in Palmy is still vacant and still has all the DS signage on the building.
Likewise with the Newmarket one in Auckland. Dead location, though, so it isn't a surprise.
Walked past the Riccarton Mall JB Hifi today just as a guy was opening the door & got a two second view inside the shop, seemed to be full of shelves with opening specials posters everywhere the eye could see.

The ikea importer at the glenfield mall looks to almost be open.
It's open now. I had a look around it in the weekend and I quite like some of the styles they've got, but not the prices.
I was in the store at Riccarton today. It is jam packed with stock - some really good specials there. I don't have any need for an Ice Shaver, but for $8 (down from $79) why not?
50" Sony Smart TV for $888 - seems like a pretty awesome price too!
Spend $100 or more at the Riccarton JB store and you can enter this draw...

amiga500: The contrast between JB Hifi & the old Dick Smith shop is dramatic. If JB Hifi had been next door to Dick Smith, it would have made the tired Dick Smith look like a shop in a West Virginian coal town!
Went in to Riccarton JB Hi-Fi today and I totally agree, the old Dick Smith was looking pretty tired and empty in comparison.
How much whitegoods / small appliances are there in relationship to tech?

Their prices seem crazy! One of the tables we were keen on, but they want $499 as part of their opening special, and say the normal price is $699. The same item is AU$299 (~NZ$320) from Ikea. I get that they are shipping this stuff over and whatnot, but it would actually work out cheaper for me to buy & ship the items myself from Ikea in Aus in this case.

At Riccarton JB HiFi? I didn't see much in the way of appliances. The shop seems to be filled up with tech.

Has small appliances only - no whites. Had some good opening specials on a Microwave and the Ice Shaver (who really needs an Ice shaver), a Dyson Handheld vacuum.
About 6 aisles I suppose.
Xbox1 500GB for $349 - is that a good price?
Mighty Ape wants $460 so $350 doesn't look bad.

You say that now, but wait til you're standing there with a hairy popsicle and no shaver!
