Looks remarkably like it has been revamped for even more mobile first rather than responsive.

Thats a dead giveaway, and when it offers to install as an 'app'. Presumably cheaper to follow a single line of page management than break out platforms.

Yay (or not) for PWS apps.

Burger King also went this way recently and got appropriate 1* rating along with it.

What genius decided that in order to load the stuff website, I need to watch an animated "S" every time?

Especially as you can see it already has loaded content, then switches to that goofy purple animated "S" before switching back to the content.

Really annoys me.

While we are at it - can't they curate the content a bit better? - Some items sit on there for months on end.

IMHO they have about the most overloaded/cluttered home page of any media site I have ever visited.

Grumpy old man rant finished....

Not getting that on FF or Chrome. But the content is "ok"  I dont like right arrows to scroll right for news I cannot see though

Re months on end, that's a Newshub thing, not really noticed that on Stuff so much

But they retained the "feature" that when I back arrow from an article I go back to the top of the page, or is that a browser thing?

So far on FF Stuff opens fine. Pops up "Make this Stuff, your Stuff' box. Close box. Click on item to read. Click back. Goes to home page. Pops up "Make this Stuff, your Stuff' box. Close box. This may have already been mentioned, but I sent my own 'Feed Back' today.

"Hi. Not really thrilled about new site.

The biggest fault is you click on an article, it goes to that page and then when you have finished reading that article you click on the return arrow BUT that’s takes you back to the very start/top of the front page instead of where you were. So you now have to scroll down to where you were just to continue reading. This is very laborious."

They will get back to me in 48 hours.

I see this afternoon's Quiz is now behind a "freewall" and can't be accessed without registration/logging in.

Beginning of the end...

I see they've also done an "anti-BugMeNot": I used an account from there and it asked me to check the registered email mailbox and follow the instructions.

At least its free. There are rapidly growing number of media articles that are paywalled these days.

Browsing on iPhone using Safari, all I needed to do was use my pi-hole, block a bunch of elements with 1Blocker, set to use Reader mode automatically, and create an account and sign in.
That’s all it takes to make the site look great /s

Cheer,
Joseph

App won't load at all for me on Android, I removed it from my phone. You can't add a shortcut to their site to your home screen either, which is odd, that works for other sites. So if I want to go to stuff I have to open the browser ad choose a bookmark. It's only one more step, but the other news services are a single click.

The Herald and Newshub are free as well. Yes the Herald has subscription options but you can still read quite a bit of stuff for free - and it doesn't have an, uh, unusual colour scheme either.

Herald is not free. The good stuff is paywalled. I have a free sub so thats fine. Stuff, all free except the bits that are ChCh Press or Listener etc, paywalled.

Bit like TV, pay for Herald, pay for Listener, pay for Ch Press, and the list will grow

The extreme is people wont pay, its like its $2 a month (each) So peeps will be distanced from the real news, so that leaves a gap
