stuzzo: I paid. That was the only way they'd accept the rain-check. Certainly won't be accepting a lesser specified model.
A rain check isn't a guarantee that you'll get the exact same product. It's merely a promise to supply a product that is of similair quality, features and value. They don't necessarily need to supply the exact same model.
I think some people are overlooking the fact here that had HN not screwed up with their advertising they would have been under no obligation to offer any form of rain check on these products. Had this product been clearly marked as "limited supplies nationwide only while stocks last" like other products in their circular, and had not continued to publicise the special on TV after stock had run out then they would have done nothing wrong. They had a bargain and it's a case of first in first served - there is nothing wrong with this.
