Feeling obliged to defend innocent lettuce from attack on an internet forum:

Depending on the variety, lettuce is an excellent source (20% of the Daily Value, DV, or higher) of vitamin K (97% DV) and vitamin A (21% DV) (table), with higher concentrations of the provitamin A compound, beta-carotene, found in darker green lettuces, such as romaine.[32] With the exception of the iceberg variety, lettuce is also a good source (10–19% DV) of folate and iron (table).[32]

Handle9: Salad forks and butter knives getting mixed in with the normal knives and forks.

These intruders are only ever detected once I'm sitting at the table.

There are salad forks?

I have found with salads, that often peoples experiences are similar to fish, they had bad fish/salad. When people talk about smelly poor tasting fish and slimey salad, feel compelled to tell people that fresh fish typically doesn't have a strong taste or smell, and fresh salad shouldn't be slimey either.

My FIL is now a proper fish eater off the back of experiencing fresh fish....

There are indeed, they come in assorted varieties ie:  wooden rustic version, modern slender version, and silver plated formal version.  All so closely resemble the table fork on the left (unless you're an American or other savage), it's easy to see how they could be mixed up with normal forks.

I solved this by never eating salad and thus not requiring cutlery for doing so!!

There's so many types of salad I'll assume you're saying that for hyperbole. After all, that burger will be very dull with only a patty between 2 buns.

Many types of salad don't even contain lettuce.
I'm sure you've encountered meat salads in your time - that's surely a salad that would meet (meat) your approval.

Nope. I eat no kind of salad at all. I always order burgers without salad items, pickles or onion. I do not eat fruit  and aside from potatoes and peas, I do not eat vegetables either.

Gee - you could increase your vegetable intake diversity by 50% by taking up smoking.

I could! I've been that way my whole life - some vegetables smell so bad to me that I have to leave the room if my wife is cooking them!

Eat a stable amount of lettuce daily and take more warfarin. QED 😉

Ah, yes, we have one (probably 3, similar to yours) of those in the kitchen drawer which doesn't open due to being full of a whole lot of crap, some measuring cups, and a potato masher.

But have you got a spaghetti serving fork?  I just checked our drawer, and confirm that we've got one - I think we last used it in about 1990.  I guarantee that if I put it in the basement (purgatory before the recycle bin), my SO will urgently need it.  Not sure for what - but solving small annoyances sometimes backfires.

Having to call the Herald to cancel my introductory offer, on the plus side they let me have it at half price for a while going forward so not too bad. Still sucks to have to speak to someone to cancel a DIGITAL subscription.

Similar to this, I made an appointment with Specsavers for an eye exam through their website. A couple of days later I tried to cancel it as I had got a better date/time from another store. I couldn't cancel it on line and had to call them.

Make the call and it goes to a recorded message. I leave my details for them to call me back, no return call for 24hrs. I call them again the next day and it goes to a recorded message. This time I leave my details and request a cancellation quoting the date and time of my appointment. Still no return call.

So I forgot about it for a couple of weeks. It turns out my appointment was for 2pm yesterday as I found out when I got a call from Specsavers at 2:25pm asking why I hadn't turned up for my appointment. They went on to tell me how rude it was to just not turn up and not ring in advance to tell them I couldn't make it. I couldn't be bothered arguing with them so I just hung up.

I'd rather eat less lettuce and take less warfarin...! Once or twice I have experienced what happens if your INR runs away with itself a bit and it is not fun.
