Correction, was offered 0.6 basis points discount earlier this month, that seemed to be their standard offer when asking if they could give a discount.   I was on 0.7 discount for 2yrs before that though. In the end I went for 1yr fixed at 4.95% instead.

Wyvern: Kiwibank doesn't allow brokers so gonna have to do it myself.

Yes they do - I'm currently with Kiwibank, via a broker.

was that through a mortgage broker or direct negotiation with the bank?

started out with broker, didn't like the offers he came back to us with (which were from our current bank and competitors) so emailed our banking manager directly, she came back with the offer we agreed on within 3 days

2k....banks can do better than that. Soverign offering 4k to stay....even 4k is a slap in the face...bank competition is rather strong these days...

yes they probably can, my mortgage is relatively small in the grand scheme of things. 2k is definitely better than 0k. have heard of people receiving 10k cash back on mortgages over 1 mill

yeah, advertised rate was 5.99, so thought 4.99 was a good offer
