Oh radio stations and networks are slippery weasels when it comes to ratings and awards etc. Herald was frothing over NZME stations getting awards the other day with no impartial news of who won what. They all do it too.

As for the site, I don't really care about the new design, websites change all the time.

But as others are saying, the performance is just abysmal. I've gone to their home page, waited for it to fully slow and scroll down with my track pad and its juddery for the first couple seconds then SUPER SLOW after that. I go to Stuff, wait for it to fully load and scroll down and its just normal and scrolls down quickly.

Uggggg! How do I get rid of that monstrosity of a black side panel on the left. Surely it cant be locked in place? Looks awful!

I also dislike thier new feature. When you are within an article, a swipe left or right will take you to another article.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Fail.
On PC, and I am continually distracted by the HUGE sidebar.

The old site would show me dozens of stories at first glance, now I have to scroll through oversized headlines, excessive pictures and bloody REAL ESTATE before I get to the meaty stuff.
Out of interest, just how many stories do phone users get before having to scroll down?

Bookmark removed, feedback survey completed, facebook messaged, and friends encouraged to ditch them.

Very disappointing, yet not entirely surprising, as PC users are being marginalised by the rise of phone/tablet users. Many sites are tending to cater primarily to those who may as well be surgically attached to their devices. I have nothing against being able to access info on the go, but I will not strain my eyes and ignore those around me for the sake of any "right now" fix.

If the Herald can give me an option for a PC-friendly site, I may consider visiting their site again. Until then, they've lost page views.

To answer.. depends on how long you wait for it to load.

Pre load, 3/4. After images blow up (presumably some code detection) 2

HUGE sidebar

I have since received a reply to my FB message, claiming that there is an X on the sidebar to remove it. My screenshot back to them shows otherwise. Anybody else not see an X?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I considered that (STANDS Fair Adblocker) and whitelisted the site, but still no X. Not that the ability to remove the sidebar will make me like the site that much more!

That's probably their bug cause then. Is there in chrome, will need to developer mode it

I got a w10 tablet with chrome x64 v58.0.3029.110 with no X (and subsequent update also bung)

Yet my desktop version at home was fine as pictured.

Interesting at present the article about a hole in airplane engine after takeoff offers click interactive to find vehicle crime in my region.. article fail.

Just showed up to complain about how bad the new website is.  If I click on Property, I just get a grey screen with no information.    I hope they upgrade to the old one soon, but I doubt this will be the case.

The new site is totally useless on my phone. No matter what item I click to open the only one that opens is the headline article at the top of the page.

So I have totally stopped using their site this week and moved over to stuff.  Their new site is just hard to read news stories now.  Everything is over-sized, to much scrolling down and just a pain in the a** to use overall.
