I find the giant give way sign on the end of the island to be more of a problem than the gardens on the roundabout. The sign blocks seeing cars indicators till I am basically over the lines.

I havn't had much issues with signs unless they're those big "WELCOME TO WHATEVER VILLAGE" type signage in the middle of roundabouts sometimes. Who approves this stuff? Can I make a legitimate complaint that would actually solve anything? There does not seem to be any sort of enforced regulation as the gardens can vary from as tall as me to indicator blockers.

Many moons ago when I was up at University, there was a roundabout near our campus that had two dirty tyre tracks that went straight ahead if you were coming from town, turned right on top and exited towards the student carpark.

All those "Welcome to/Haere ra from county/region/district/whatever" signs.

I don't object to the signs per se, but to the ridiculous waste of money that they represent. I mean, who *cares* what county/region/district they happen to be driving through?Does the council/authority/whatever believe that a sign like this makes the motorist feel welcome? What motorist cares whether they're welcome in a county/region/district they happen to be driving through anyway?

The fact that, since Southern Cross took over Ellenco, the small Chch company we were with for many years, our dog's insurance has gone from $550/year to $1,350 a year in only 2 years, with worse cover and service...

Worse still, he is too old at 9 for any other insurer to consider now I think.

Forced names like "Hiddleswift" are too try-hard (and just awful) and whoever came up with that particular one should be shot. I call that particular coupling 'TayTo.

But some of them are kinda fun. Like when (footballer) Tom Brady dated (model) Giselle Bundchen and they were called "Brady Bunch". Or when (Mr Nickelback) Chad Kroeger married (equally awful musician) Avril Lavigne and they were called "Chavs". Or as far back as the 1940s when (actor) Cary Grant married the heiress to the Woolworths fortune and they were called "Cash and Cary".

Not a couple-name, but my current favourite is BoJo for Boris Johnson - not far off Bozo - which many people would call apt. I happen to like him for his amusement value if not his politics.

Probably already mentioned but windscreen wipers...

When:

They squeak or screech even slightly
They don't remove every drop of water or leave streaks (will pull over immediately to correct this)
They are on more than they need to be (eg: set to constant when it's just spitting. This only annoys me when I'm a passenger as I don't ever do it. It even annoys me when other cars that driving past do it lol)
When people forget to turn them off after it stops raining (are you paying attention to your surroundings if you don't notice two black sticks swinging in front of your face?)
Small wipers that don't wipe enough of the window

I don't know if they still do it, but I used to have a Nissan that, when you switched off the wipers, it would give one more wipe, I'm told it was common across the marque. That annoyed me far more than is sensible. I mean, I turn off the wipers because I have judged that there is no more wiping required, and it gives one more wipe as if it knows better than me. Apart from that I was quite happy with the car, but since then Nissans have been on my wouldn't-buy list.
